When it comes to respect, and putting someone first it’s always your spouse. But if it’s life and death, I’m taking my kid, and I expect my wife to do the same.

Very easy answer when you’re a follower of Christ. Your spouse comes before all. A lot of worldly marriages have muddied the picture of what a great marriage looks like. But he said it perfectly, you made those vows before God, and in the Bible it’s your spouse, then kids before everybody. As incredibly painful as it would be, he’s right, you can make another child with that same woman and keep the same family dynamic. You, your wife and child together. You can’t do that if you choose the child and bring another woman into the picture.

If the situation was reversed and, for example, my child and I were both poisoned and there was only one cure. My child is getting that cure, and I'm happy for it.

The thing that kills me is i wouldn't be able to be with someone who chose me over our child. The child should be our obligation because they didn't ask to be here. You two made the commitment to protect the child. The solution to losing a child is not just simply having another.

This is such a crazy topic because my dad always told us that he would always pick my mom over any of us. It hurt like hell when he said it but he never wavered. He told us if he saves my mom, they can have more children and she was with him before any of us. As a mom, I could never think this way. I think healthy men would save their wives but their wives would never forgive them for letting her child die. It’s a no-win situation.

Choose that woman over everything and see where that gets you over 50 percent of the time

This is an extreme example because the chances of a woman and child hanging off a cliff is slim and of course in that case you save your kid. But what the other guy is saying is facts. Your spouse comes first . Your children will always be your children.
