Honestly, this is the part of Nigerian politics we don't like to admit. Davido had every right to campaign for Adeleke, but when you have millions of young people listening to you, political statements can carry consequences beyond ordinary Twitter banter. That said, saying “Osun would have been on fire” if APC won is also a very dangerous way to frame democracy. People are allowed to lose elections without the state descending into chaos. The bigger lesson is this, celebrities and politicians need to understand the power of their words, especially during elections. You can support your candidate passionately without making your followers feel like losing is not an option. Election is not war. Your candidate winning is not worth one Nigerian losing their life.
