Yea, this sort of blew my mind when I sat one day and thought about how every function, action, reaction, whatever, are all just a combination of a transistor turning off and on. Contemplating the chain of events from you pressing that key to the character appearing on screen then directed to find, gather, translate, and execute the file. The key press alone is a function that was written down in a file. And all of the indexing and execution happen faster than our minds can conceive!

Linux treats everything as a file, including hardware devices (like hard drives, keyboards, and printers). DEMNN!!

It's hardly surprising that all the commands are binary files - that goes for all OS's. But all the configurations and the definitions of GUI menus etc... are usually editable 'plain text' files too, so you manually can change up the whole thing like you want! 👍
