For me, my problem with URA is that they are continuously pushing people out of business without considering the consequences: shrinking the tax base and increasing unemployment, while foreigners receive tax holidays and exemptions. Before imposing taxes on someone, do they carry out proper research to establish what the business actually earns, or do they simply make assumptions?

Recently I arrived at Entebbe airport and URA guys checked even my small handbag. I don't know whether it's desperation or what exactly is the problem with airport staff. They ask very unnecessary questions on departure and even one wanted to check my bank account. Very crazy.

I never imagined Uganda would reach that level. I too was disappointed at some point because of such unrealistic taxes. Oh Uganda, our motherland, your people are bleeding. It's terrible.

Make sure when you are leaving Uganda you don’t go with a phone because when you are returning, your personal phone will be taxed. Every phone is taxed even if it’s your personal phone.
