Porsche Taycan is an EV with an actual 2 speed transmission, but yea simulating it on 1 speed EVs is silly

when i was 4, i would draw on a cardboard box the headlights steering wheel and doors. would climb in and pretend for hours. i was overly infatuated with driving as a tyke. this is no different. does the manual EV come with a sippy cup and cookies?

I mean technically you can do a manual transmission with an EV. Gas to electric conversions sometimes leave the trans in place and just run it in 2nd or 3rd gear. But typically its not done because of the insane revs and power curve that electric motors have.

Just another gimmick to sucker peons and plebs into driving a Franken-vehicle that will air-fry them too.

Its no different that the guys with 18 speeds putting a 3 stick set up instead of having the switches and levers on the shifter. They wanna look cool like they can have a 5 and a 4 browning and a high and low. What is cool in the 18spd with a 2 or 4 speed browning

I'll be honest, I am fond of this "gimmick" from Toyota. At least they remember driving is supposed to be a LITTLE engaging.. On a side note, this DOES technically "allow you" more control over the vehicle handling... I don't think that's a bad thing, even if it is just sensors?

This smells like the ev marketing department trying to appeal to sports and muscle car guys. The illusion will fade when it takes hours to charge for a small amount of miles of range. The batteries are the problem. The cost, reliability and performance are just not there yet.
