The Commission postponed Mr. Carrim Suleiman's testimony to 15 July 2026. Evidence leader Chaskalson expressed concern that Carrim has been hospitalized repeatedly just before scheduled appearances—a pattern that began in April. He also noted that basic document requests (financial statements) remain outstanding since Carrim last testified. Chaskalson warned that if Carrim does not agree to an independent medical examination, the evidence leaders will seek prosecution under the Commissions Act for hindering proceedings, and ask the Commission to make findings based on existing evidence. Carrim's legal team argued that his medical condition has made it impossible to provide instructions since April, that the Commission has no legal basis to compel a medical examination, and that if prosecution is considered, they must be given an opportunity to respond. The Chair engaged in a debate about the Commission's power to draw adverse inferences from unanswered allegations—the legal team accepted that this is the "ordinary laws of evidence" and not objectionable, as opposed to drawing inferences specifically from refusing a voluntary medical examination. #MadlangaCommission
