Evidence suggests the helicopter pilot misunderstood the air traffic control instructions about which plane to be watching and go behind. Appreciate all the analysis from pilots since last night’s tragic plane crash.

How does a helicopter pilot misunderstand instructions that badly? That is unacceptable!

Something tells me after an 18 month investigation, the NTSB will determine the same thing. Terrible tragedy. Thinking of all those lost souls and their families.

Yup. ACT should've been more clear and assertive. The helicopter pilots were looking for traffic to RWY1, not RWY 33 The DCA controller will be protected though and the blame will be placed on the pilots

I’ve never seen anything like this situation going on in Washington D.C. right now in the Potomac. Something just doesn’t seam right to me. A military aircraft..?! Such a horrific situation. God be with them 🙏

Who was the pilot? All I’ve heard is a female pilot?

With a reported 500 hours of flight, this makes total sense. Still learning. Pilots say 1500 hours is required to be a commercial pilot for instance.
