Actually, a pro would type 1, hit enter, type 2, hit enter, then click & drag the little box in the corner of the selected cell down to his desired ending point

another way start with 1 then highlight the cell then with your mouse, drag down till you reach your destination. You should see the numbers incrementing as you drag.
