CPU Cores, Cachelines, and False Sharing Have you ever heard of "False Sharing"? A performance issue arising when independent variables end up in the same cache line and are being updated by respective threads in parallel. Each CPU core update causes a forceful flushing of the cache line for other cores - even though the variables aren't shared! Check the kernel documentation on this topic, too. There is an excellent video showing this in more detail and a fantastic blog article from Netflix Engineering showing how this impacted production - an excellent case study.

Many times I say ‘perfect exterior precision build quality’. This is what I mean. Tight & consistent panel gaps, excellent rubber beading quality & uniformity, edges, less welding spots on door frames, and overall paint quality. It takes decades to master this level of quality even in your entry level car and hence the extra cost of engineering & finesse. Car in the video, Skoda Kylaq

Ohio State, Akron University, Wright State, Case, U of Cincinnati, U of Dayton. Akron University, which Vivek wants to close, has the #1 Polymer Science Program in the World. Here is what he is actually telling our future engineers to their face. Ohio has the infrastructure to reindustrialize. Vivek is touting advanced manufacturing, automation, and robotics. Flash back to the Longshoreman Port strikes of 2024. They were fighting automation. Advanced manufacturing (automation) means replacing jobs with robotics. What Vivek is selling Ohio businesses is a 40%-50% reduced labor cost to sell Ohioans out of a job. On top of that, H1Bs will replace the few positions that oversee these operations. Vivek's attack on our education system, is because it is excellent and it's competition for his plan to sell the state to his tech and biotech friends. Don't let him.

As you know, I’ve been working to deliver engineering and logistics equipment to Ukraine. I’d like to share a small story about delivering this truck. Three months ago, we purchased three crane trucks in France. With the remaining funds, we were able to buy four logistics vehicles: three vans and this 8.5-ton truck. To make the most of our resources, I focus on finding equipment that is a bit older but has very low mileage. This truck had only 150,000 km, which is incredibly low for such machinery. The truck was dirty, and the cabin looked like it had been used as a shelter. I decided that if the price was right, we’d take it. In the end, we got it for just 3,500 euros. The truck was in excellent technical condition. We cleaned it thoroughly, changed the oil and filters, and got it ready for service. A team of drivers, organized by @uke_canuck, delivered it to Ukraine. It has since been transferred to the 26th Artillery Brigade, where it is now actively delivering supplies and ammunition. They even sent us this nice video as a thank-you. Our goal is not just to deliver equipment but to maximize impact by doing more with less—and we’re getting good at it. The eThekwini Municipality shared renders with me earlier today, and they look incredible. •⁠ Completion date: 2027 •⁠ Jobs created during construction: 900 •⁠ Permanent jobs created once open: 500 •⁠ Project by: Masithu Consulting and Project Managers (MCPM) Key public upgrades will include: •⁠ Themed food courts. •⁠ Neon-lit pedestrian walkways. •⁠ An alcohol-free, family-friendly environment. •⁠ Panoramic viewing decks overlooking the ocean and city skyline. •⁠ A fully-redeveloped splash-park and children’s water play area - funded entirely by the developer. Some of the exciting amusement park rides include: the Lightning Roller Coaster, Disko 24, Vertical Swing, and a 1,500m2 Virtual Reality Theme Park with more than 160 interactive games and global e-sports activations. Some of the exciting amusement park rides include: the Lightning Roller Coaster, Disko 24, Vertical Swing, and a 1,500m2 Virtual Reality Theme Park with more than 160 interactive games and global e-sports activations. The park will be developed in partnership with 2 leading Italian amusement engineering firms, well known for projects at Ferrari World, Universal Studios and Disneyland. The city's revival of its beachfront properties through public-private partnerships is excellent. This redevelopment is part of a larger R2-billion private-sector investment pipeline along the Golden Mile. It complements the Joe Kools redevelopment, enhancements to the Elangeni & Maharani hotels, and the City’s long-term beachfront renewal plan.
