BREAKING NEWS: Footage of Calgary Police arresting 5 protesters including a child and an alleged pregnant woman has surfaced online from today’s pro-Palestine protest. “Three individuals have been charged with assaulting a peace officer. A fourth individual was charged with obstruction of a peace officer,” Calgary Police said. Protesters said that the child was let go afterwards, and announced that they’d be heading to the District 1 Police station to demand the release of others. However that didn’t happen, and after much waiting in front of their station, police put down their shields and sticks and retreated inside. The arrests were made after some demonstrators blockaded Macleod Trail, one of the busiest route to exit downtown. You can watch my exclusive on-the-ground coverage of today Media Bezirgan

EXCLUSIVE: Calgary Drivers Frustrated With Police for Allowing Protesters to Disrupt Traffic "I've been sitting here for 20 minutes, my brother has 2 kids with concussions and I'm supposed to bring dinner to them, and I can't get through." Said one driver. "They [Police] should not allow it -- I'm losing my income and so many people have important things to do," said one Uber driver. Last week, police arrested 5 protesters for blocking the same intersection, but after wide condemnation from Muslim organizations, the police allowed demonstrators to march on busy intersections for the purpose of causing disruption to the lives of Albertans. Protesters in Bihar asked the police to use tear gas & water cannons on them. Police said that tear gas wasn’t available; the protesters said they would settle for the water cannons. After getting thoroughly soaked, they enjoyed an impromptu rain dance and left the scene.

Nihang Sikhs, who had come to support the CJP protest, are now also saying that there are goons among the protesters who are vandalizing police vehicles and attacking police personnel. The Nihangs have said that the protest should remain peaceful and that such violence has no place in it. They may withdraw their support for the CJP protest, as they have repeatedly said that some people at the protest are consuming drugs, something they say they cannot support.
