The penalties for failing to update car registration in Washington could soon cost drivers more money. A new proposal goes after violators with expired tabs, and parked cars could get ticketed even while in a parking garage. Sen. Curtis King, the bill's prime sponsor, referenced Department of Licensing data that an estimated 600,000 people have expired tabs out of the 8-million registered drivers in the state. He told KOMO News he brought forth this bill because of the missed revenue, and because the state patrol advised the agency cannot ticket someone with expired tabs unless they are driving. Farmers pay tax. I pay tax. We want to pay tax (as much as anyone else wants to pay tax) If we could afford the inheritance tax bill we would pay it. Like we pay everything else. We either have the inheritance tax rules reversed or we have to demand better prices for our produce to be able to pay the tax. Farmland can’t be and must not be sold to pay the tax. Food security is the priority for this country and we have to protect it. Here’s my thoughts on what we can do about this.

I’ve got some bad news- the auto excise tax increase bill that Maura Healey proposed is making its way through the legislature. This is a bill that would allow cities and towns to triple the auto excise tax. That’s right- it would be a 300% increase. You would potentially be paying 7.5% on your auto excise tax as opposed to the current rate of 2.5%. That would mean the average working family in Massachusetts would be paying thousands more in excise tax when they buy a new car. Massachusetts families are already paying too much. The last thing we need is a higher excise tax. When I’m governor, we’ll cut taxes and cut utility bills to make the state more affordable for working families. #magov #mapoli
