Zakhele Cindi from Pietermaritzburg says he stands firm on his decision of not burying his father. Earlier this week, the 43-year-old told Newzroom Afrika that his father’s body has been in a government mortuary since the beginning of January. The decision not to collect the body follows being abandoned by him, alleged abuse and a protection order which his father had opened against him. This is while the KZN Portfolio Committee on Health says the province currently has 500 to 600 unclaimed bodies across government mortuaries in the province. Lele Ndlovu is with Cindi. He notes the team has been “the only team that receives this type of lead” and has been the most successful of 11 national task teams.
