This is an illegal mining site in the northern part of Nigeria. According to the source, the site is owned by the politicians and other elites in the country. Despite the insecurity in the region, the site is said to be well secured. Many illegal activities are happening at the site which includes prostitution, drugs trafficking and so on. In as much as we want this country to succeed, we must retire all the useless politicians in this country.

Roads are going in, heavy equipment is moving, and site prep is underway for security, payload processing, and launch control facilities. Local contractors leading the work. 🇬🇭 🇨🇳 A Ghanaian man has reportedly died after being assaulted by Chinese nationals at a mining site in Amenfi West in the Western Region. According to the Assembly Member for the area, the victim went to the site to get diesel when he was allegedly attacked by security personnel and some Chinese workers at the site. Following the incident, angry community members stormed the galamsey site and set fire to two excavators as well as parts of the site in retaliation. As of now, the Chinese nationals are reported to have fled the area, while tensions remain high.

The scourge of illegal waste crime sweeping the country has now made its way to my river, with one of the largest illegal waste dumps in the country being discovered next to the River Roding at Stapleford Tawney, near Epping. Nobody knows what exactly is dumped on this 20,000 square metre site, or how much waste it contains, but it is certainly tens of thousands of tonnes. Shockingly, rubbish has been dumped on this site since 2024 and the Environment Agency (EA) has known about it for *at least* a year. Even now, however, the EA has not shut down the site by obtaining a legal closure order, physically blocking off the site and putting in CCTV monitoring. This means the site is wide open so anyone can continue to dump there. There is also zero monitoring of the environmental impact on the river, despite visible toxic leachate pooling on the surface of the dump & draining off it. The EA has apparently no plans to remove the waste from this site either & intends to let it pollute the environment indefinitely.
