EXCLUSIVE: Texas Gov Greg Abbott tells Daily Wire that if Houston doesn’t reverse a new sanctuary policy, the city could lose $40 million a month in tax rebates from the state in addition to the $110 million in state public safety grants. It may be Houston’s “largest source of... revenue,” Abbott said. “It’s like you getting a paycheck … on a monthly basis to be able to pay your bills. The city of Houston is going to not get a paycheck of about $40 million a month where they’re not going to be able to pay their bills,” Abbott said. “So this truly is a crisis, a financial crisis, the city of Houston is going through. Greg Abbott is a punk. Texas Democrats haven’t broken a single law, so there’s zero grounds to arrest them, let alone prosecute. Abbott clearly doesn’t even know his own state’s constitution. Quorum-breaking is a political move, not a crime. Sure, the House can fine them or dock their pay, but it’s a constitutional tool, protected and legit. Even the Texas Supreme Court said it in 2021: the state constitution allows quorum-breaking as a tactic for the minority, even if it shuts the place down.
