No, the UN is not “participating in the starvation of ‘Gazans’ by not delivering aid.” That’s an outrageous Israeli fabrication to shift blame from those actually engineering the starvation of Gaza. ➤ Sam Rose, UNRWA’s acting director in Gaza, told Channel 4 the reason aid isn’t getting in is simple: “Nothing gets into Gaza without the say-so of the Israeli authorities.” ➤ UNRWA has 6,000 trucks of aid ready—“enough food for everyone for 3 months”—but Israel is not permitting them to “bring any of those supplies in.” ➤ Even when trucks make it across, UN staff “can only go to the border area with the explicit approval of the Israeli authorities,” who, Rose notes, are currently bombing the very areas where most UN capacity is based—Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. “It’s unforgivable and inexcusable… people are being starved on purpose.”

The claim of full blown famine in northern Gaza is full blown nonsense. It is just factually wrong. Prices of basic food items in the northern part of Gaza are down around 90%. This week I entered Gaza with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. I am one of the only civilians who has been given permission to enter. I went to see for myself what is happening at the humanitarian aid sites. What I saw proved that what the media is reporting about the situation is absolutely false. The GHF’s mission is to feed the people of Gaza in a way that Hamas can’t steal the food, and it’s working. I witnessed over 13,000 people being fed including 3,300 women and children. 📦Two additional humanitarian aid centers will be established in southern Gaza In the coming days, the construction of two new humanitarian aid and food distribution centers in southern Gaza will be completed, thanks to the efforts that the U.S administration and the American Foundation are leading in Gaza. Once the work is completed, a total of five food distribution centers will be operating by the GHF. These centers will replace the Tel al-Sultan center, improving both the response and safety of aid distribution. The IDF, through COGAT , and in accordance with the directives of the political echelon, will continue to enable humanitarian assistance in Gaza while operating to ensure the orderly distribution of food to the residents of Gaza, not Hamas.

"Right now, we have 500,000 people inside of Gaza that are extremely food insecure, and could be on the verge of famine if we don't help bring them back from that," she says. "We need to get in, and we need to get in at scale, not just a few dribble of the trucks right now." She says Israel has "let a few trucks in" to Gaza with aid after it stopped blocking deliveries several days ago, but it's "a drop in the bucket as to what's needed."
