Speaking to India Today about the Flydubai cockpit attack, US political commentator Laura Loomer contrasted the actions of the Indian captain and the Omani co-pilot, framing them through their respective religious identities. Loomer praised Captain Smit Machchhar for continuing to fight to protect passengers despite being seriously injured. Her comments came as authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE investigate the cockpit assault. Saudi Arabia’s preliminary probe found that the captain was assaulted by his co-pilot, while the UAE is investigating whether the incident involved terrorist activity or prior planning. #Flydubai #SmitMachchhar #LauraLoomer #IndiaToday #AviationNews #FlydubaiIncident

On a FlyDubai flight from the UAE to Israel, an Omani pilot stabbed his co-pilot and put the plane into a nosedive, dropping 17,000 ft in less than 2 minutes. It was only due to the bravery of the ordinary Israelis onboard that stopped this ending horribly. Maya Sulkin dives into how the media, once again, downplayed the targeting of Israelis.

Flydubai Attack: Israel Claims Co-Pilot Was Radicalised Israel has identified the Flydubai co-pilot as an Omani national, but his identity and nationality have not been officially confirmed by Oman, the UAE or Flydubai. Israeli officials including PM Netanyahu have made claims about the co-pilot’s alleged radicalisation, suicidal state and the possibility that he acted alone. These remain claims and are not the final findings of the UAE-led investigation. The incident has also raised questions about aviation-security arrangements for foreign airlines operating to Israel. The stories about the Flydubai flight keep changing. First, it was reported that the co-pilot was Ukrainian and the main pilot was Russian. Now, they’re being reported as Omani and Emirati. First, the story was that the co-pilot was attempting to commit suicide and that the pilot stopped him. Now, it’s being reported that the co-pilot stabbed the other pilot and that passengers stopped him. The tail of the aircraft was also damaged due to the descent. Saudi forces have reportedly arrested the suspect. Saudi Arabia denied the Israeli government’s request to send a military aircraft to airlift Israeli citizens stranded in Tabuk after Flydubai Flight #FZ1073. Flydubai is now sending a recovery flight to bring them back to Dubai.

Israeli passenger Yaniv Hayun described to PM Netanyahu how he applied a chokehold to subdue the co-pilot who stabbed the captain and attempted to crash Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30, 2026. Hayun, citing his aviation background, pulled the controls to level the plunging plane after passengers breached the cockpit; the wounded captain had opened the door before collapsing, allowing intervention that prevented disaster. The Omani co-pilot was arrested in Saudi Arabia after the emergency diversion to Tabuk; Israeli officials describe the event as an attempted terror attack, with Netanyahu praising the passengers' actions that saved 174 people including 27 children.
