Florida carried out its first double execution in 60 years, executing former police officer James Duckett and 80-year-old Dominick Occhicone by lethal injection. Duckett was sentenced to death for kidnapping, raping, and murdering 11-year-old Teresa Mae McAbee. He declined to give a final statement before his execution. Occhicone was executed for murdering his ex-girlfriend’s parents after blaming them for their breakup. Before his execution, he apologized to his family and said he never intended to do what he did.
