Problem solving and critical thinking were key when I grew up. We got by with a heck of a lot less and didn’t have Google to “solve” our problems or answer our questions. Had to learn to use a dictionary, learn from our elders and ask good questions. Really just common sense which is lacking a lot these days. IMPO

Handy Guide

My most learned lesson from being a teenager in the '80s: If I don't have any expectations, I won't get disappointed. 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 Still relevant today!

Great video. Can we get a copy WITHOUT the asshole at the bottom acting out FAKE Laughter and FAKE responses? While we are at it, I propose we make adding that FAKE raspy high pitched wheesy cartoon laugh to videos as well. I'm over it.

Lived alone in a car at 17. Graduated HS early at 17. Work in a FOUNDRY to get money for school. Worked 30-35 hrs per week in college. Graduated at 17th ranked business school. Started my own business. Own LAKE & COUNTRY homes. NEVER TOOK A DIME OF GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE, EVER !

The McGyvering is so real. 😂 Toilet seat broke because it was dropped down one too many times, and the plastic was already brittle with age? Just super glue some pieces of Lego underneath to hold it together. 'That'll hold until I replace it' only you never do because the McGyver fix works. 🤷♀️

When this is the Solution to cuts & Scrapes, you toughen up. You don't Cry over a skinned knee. You learn to deal with it yourself so dad doesn't pour this david juice on your leg.

Taken 1984. Looks like I was having fun. On a mountain East of Tonasket, Washington. Truck is a 1949 Chevrolet. Learn to drive on it when I was 10.

I'm a boomer. The way I see it is this. Gen X was still pissed about all the trips to the woodshed to teach them respect and instill common sense, they didn't think it was necessary to teach the basics. Then came the participation trophies.

I am GenX and raised 3 daughters. Not a participation trophy between them. I would agree to your statement when applied to the generation that came after us.

@TreeTrucker44 “Not my gen, but the next!” How blind can u be

@DaBigTim @DameScorpio Who raised the "next gen" to be so soft on attitude correction? Hmm?

I honestly miss those days!!! To be free of bills, outside having fun with my friends. Riding 4wheelers, riding horses, riding in my dad's boat at the river. Going floating and camping all summer. Damn!!

And if all else fails you could get ahold of the A Team

I already started my day with a dip of Kodiak and my cup of coffee simultaneously…Gen X can’t even spit like they mean it ALl they do is swallow 🤣🤣🤣 Trump 16-2028 💥⚖️🇺🇸

👊 🤣

You have no idea how many people watched this and were perplexed by what an "old meatloaf cassette" is.

The key to staying calm in a chaotic world, "We expect everything to go wrong. It's our factory setting."

I was wondering why he didn’t mention duct tape, then he did. 😂

Those were the days my frens. A harmonica holder from an old coat hanger, playing the blues away handsfree. Now we’re all whining when our Bluetooth won’t work and we’re all popping pills for the blues. Tripping down memory lane right now, wishing I could turn back time again just for the safety of the kids.

Amazingly accurate! I sometimes wonder if MacGyver's writers and Richard Dean Anderson realize the magnitude of the effect they continue to have on the lives of millions. 🤣

Yep. Gen X here. I’m pleasantly surprised daily because I always expect something to go wrong. When I was teaching we were told we all needed to write an inspiring statement on our boards for our students. I took a blurb from Modern Family and used it. It stayed on my board until I retired. “If you want to be successful in life, just lower your expectations.”

@gringro704 This guy is great! I love his videos. My kids do too they laugh because they do this also because that is what my husband and I have taught them. Don’t panic fix it.

Can you imagine the snowflakes of today trying to fix the tape in a cassette with nothing but irritation, conviction and a ball point pen? No! They’d be posting that it was too traumatic and everything was ruined.

To all my gen xers. Remember when telephones didn't turn off if the power was out.. and we had phone booths on every corner that were always accessible even if the power was out.. ask yourself why they took that away. You'll be asking yourself why you let them soon enough

I always do my panicking after the situation has passed and I'm safe. It's so weird But it works!

Hope for the best expect the worse … yes this was the motto we all grew up on 🤷🏻♀️

As a Gen X, I could definitely do without the laughing man insert...😐

This guy stole the show. I wouldn’t have known when to laugh without him.

Loved it reposted it! My kids whining and when I fix it before they finish crying they act mad🤣 my motto is …no use crying over spilt milk just put your big girl panties on and fix it! Life is 90 percent disappointment so really enjoy the 10 percent to the fullest🤣🫨

@JakeSneed612 He is completely right we don't panic, we just think okay what's my next move fix it

Yeah, but you learned all that from us Baby Boomers..😆😆

Oh man, the 80’s. Sure glad we didn’t have the ability to take pics or video of the stuff we pulled. I have to sit down now. My back hurts.

Bloody oath 🤣🤣🤣 Go Gen X 👍👍👍 We all have the macgyver in us 😇😇😇

So TRUE! Still doing it to this day. Throw something out? Not until I have gone every possible permeatation of what it could be used for!

Boomers and gen x so much in common
