Much needed bc I'm sorry but I just don't get any signal out of the new MTEB leaderboard. In addition to updating the corpus to keep it fresh will you all be updating the models benchmarked to include newer models (would love to see Stella, voyage 3 large, gemini-embedding-exp-03-07). Would also be interested in seeing different rerankers tested esp. mxbai-rerank-large-v2 vs. listwise and pointwise reranking with gemini flash 2 lite, 2, and 2.5 for example. Basically I need you to do my job for me pls.

@databricks We will try to keep it updated with newer models (bonus if publicly available). As the dataset is open-sourced, we also hope the community can directly jump and run baselines on freshstack.

Announcing a new Coursera course: Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) You'll learn to build high performance, production-ready RAG systems in this hands-on, in-depth course created by and taught by Zain, experienced AI and ML engineer, researcher, and educator. RAG is a critical component today of many LLM-based applications in customer support, internal company Q&A systems, even many of the leading chatbots that use web search to answer your questions. This course teaches you in-depth how to make RAG work well. LLMs can produce generic or outdated responses, especially when asked specialized questions not covered in its training data. RAG is the most widely used technique for addressing this. It brings in data from new data sources, such as internal documents or recent news, to give the LLM the relevant context to private, recent, or specialized information. This lets it generate more grounded and accurate responses. In this course, you’ll learn to design and implement every part of a RAG system, from retrievers to vector databases to generation to evals. You’ll learn about the fundamental principles behind RAG and how to optimize it at both the component and whole-system levels. As AI evolves, RAG is evolving too. New models can handle longer context windows, reason more effectively, and can be parts of complex agentic workflows. One exciting growth area is Agentic RAG, in which an AI agent at runtime (rather than it being hardcoded at development time) autonomously decides what data to retrieve, and when/how to go deeper. Even with this evolution, access to high-quality data at runtime is essential, which is why RAG is a key part of so many applications. You'll learn via hands-on experiences to: - Build a RAG system with retrieval and prompt augmentation - Compare retrieval methods like BM25, semantic search, and Reciprocal Rank Fusion - Chunk, index, and retrieve documents using a Weaviate vector database and a news dataset - Develop a chatbot, using open-source LLMs hosted by Together AI, for a fictional store that answers product and FAQ questions - Use evals to drive improving reliability, and incorporate multi-modal data RAG is an important foundational technique. Become good at it through this course! Please sign up here:

Introducing ALE-Bench, ALE-Agent! Towards Automating Long-Horizon Algorithm Engineering for Hard Optimization Problems Blog: Paper: ALE-Bench is a coding benchmark primarily focused on hard optimization (NP-hard) problems. We developed this benchmark with AtCoder Inc., a leading coding contest platform company. What makes ALE-Bench unique is its focus on hard optimization problems that demand long-horizon and creative reasoning. It’s open-ended, in the sense that true optima are out of reach (NP-hard) and scores can continuously improve. We believe this benchmark has the potential to become one of the key benchmarks for reasoning and coding in the next generation. ALE-Agent is our end-to-end agent that we specifically designed for this challenging domain. In fact, our ALE-Agent has already built an impressive track record in the wild! In May 2025, our agent participated in a live AtCoder Heuristic Competition (AHC), alongside 1,000 other participants in real-time. AHC is considered to be one of the most challenging coding competitions in this domain. Our ALE-Agent achieved an impressive ranking of 21st out of 1,000 human participants in the competition (top 2%), marking a turning point for AI discovery of solutions to hard optimization problems with a wide spectrum of important real world applications such as logistics, routing, packing, factory production planning, power-grid balancing. We look forward to applying this technology to real industrial optimization opportunities. Building on the insights from this study, Sakana AI will continue to tackle the challenge of developing AI with even greater algorithm engineering capabilities. ALE-Bench Dataset: ALE-Bench Code: This research was conducted in collaboration with AtCoder Inc. (AtCoder). We are deeply grateful for their outstanding expertise and contributions in optimization and algorithms, which were invaluable in providing data, analyzing results, and enabling our AI agent’s participation in their contests.

New short course: Safe and Reliable AI via Guardrails! Learn to create production-ready, reliable LLM applications with guardrails in this new course, built in collaboration with Guardrails AI and taught by its CEO and co-founder, shreya rajpal. I see many companies worry about the reliability of LLM-based systems -- will they hallucinate a catastrophically bad response? -- which slows down investing in building them and transitioning prototypes to deployment. That LLMs generate probabilistic outputs has made them particularly hard to deploy in highly regulated industries or in safety-critical environments. Fortunately, there are good guardrail tools that give a significant new layer of control and reliability/safety. They act as a protective framework that can prevent your application from revealing incorrect, irrelevant, or confidential information, and they are an important part of what it takes to actually get prototypes to deployment. This course will walk you through common failure modes of LLM-powered applications (like hallucinations or revealing personally identifiable information). It will show you how to build guardrails from scratch to mitigate them. You’ll also learn how to access a variety of pre-built guardrails on the GuardrailsAI hub that are ready to integrate into your projects. You'll implement these guardrails in the context of a RAG-powered customer service chatbot for a small pizzeria. Specifically, you'll: - Explore common failure modes like hallucinations, going off-topic, revealing sensitive information, or responses that can harm the pizzeria's reputation. - Learn to mitigate these failure modes with input and output guards that check inputs and/or outputs - Create a guardrail to prevent the chatbot from discussing sensitive topics, such as a confidential project at the pizza shop - Detect hallucinations by ensuring responses are grounded in trusted documents - Add a Personal Identifiable Information (PII) guardrail to detect and redact sensitive information in user prompts and in LLM outputs - Set up a guardrail to limit the chatbot’s responses to topics relevant to the pizza shop, keeping interactions on-topic - Configure a guardrail that prevents your chatbot from mentioning any competitors using a name detection pipeline consisting of conditional logic that routes to an exact match or a threshold check with named entity recognition Guardrails are an important part of the practical building and deployment of LLM-based applications today. This course will show you how to make your applications more reliable and more ready for real-world deployment. Please sign up here:

Great Engineers are Also Artists. “I characterize art as something that is done for its own sake, and done well, and often creates a sense of beauty or some strong emotion. And a lot of engineers are introverts. As an aside, I hate the term “incel.” It’s just a way of putting introverts down. It’s the new “nerd,” if you will. If someone says that somebody is an incel, I’m more likely to want to interview them. So let’s move away from the slurs. But introverts tend to want to express themselves through other things rather than going out and expressing themselves directly. So what are they going to do? They’re going to express themselves through their craft. They’re going to create art. In my current company, at least half the engineers have serious artwork they’ve done on the side. World-class artwork—everything from elegant mathematical proofs to beautiful computer art, to literally sculpting things with clay, designing clothing, designing doorknobs, water bottles. There’s one who’s done incredible music videos, really good stuff. And I see a lot of the better engineers tinker with the AI art products, much more so than even so-called artists do. I think a lot of artists are scared by AI art products saying, “This is going to replace me.” Whereas someone who doesn’t have that identity of an artist and doesn’t feel threatened by it—it’s just a tool and they try it out to see what it can create. Anything done for its own sake and done as well as one possibly can is art. And great engineers are also artists. They’re capable of anything. It’s just they’ve chosen to be engineers and focused on building things because engineering is the ability to turn your ideas and your art into things that actually work, that do something useful, that embody some knowledge in a way that it can be repeated and people can get utility out of it. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be beautiful.”

François Chollet (François Chollet) has spent years asking a different question than most of the AI world. Instead of scaling what already works, he’s trying to understand what intelligence actually is and how to build it from first principles. In this episode of the Lightcone Podcast, he traces that path from his early work on deep learning to the creation of the ARC Prize, and the launch of ARC V3, a new benchmark designed to measure something deeper than performance: the ability to learn, adapt, and reason efficiently in entirely new environments. He explains why today’s systems may be hitting limits, what recent breakthroughs really mean, and why reaching true general intelligence may require a fundamentally different approach. 00:00 - AGI by 2030? 00:31 - Introducing Ndea: A New Path Beyond Deep Learning 01:08 - A New ML Paradigm 01:30 - Replacing neural nets with compact symbolic programs 03:04 - Why Ndea Isn’t Competing With Coding Agents 05:20 - Why Everyone Might Be Wrong About Scaling LLMs 07:22 - Why Coding Agents Suddenly Work So Well 08:50 - The Limits of LLMs in Non-Verifiable Domains 10:48 - What AGI Actually Means (And Why Most Definitions Are Wrong) 13:30 - Why Deep Learning Hits a Wall 14:00 - ARC’s Origin Story 18:20 - ARC Benchmarks Explained: From V1 to V3 22:49 - The RL Loop Powering Coding Agents Today 27:03 - ARC-AGI V3: Measuring “Agentic Intelligence” 31:14 - Inside the ARC Game Studio 35:31 - Could AGI Fit in 10,000 Lines of Code? 44:01 - Building Ndea: From Idea to Compounding Research Stack 46:46 - The Future of ARC: Benchmarks That Evolve With AI 47:21 - Why There’s Still Huge Opportunity for New AI Paradigms 53:37 - How to Build a Breakout Open Source Project - Lessons From Keras 56:39 - Advice For How To Think About AI

I just built an AI agent that’s 10x smarter than anything using basic search APIs. Here’s what nobody’s telling you about AI development right now. Most developers are stuck using limited search APIs. They’re missing social media data, forums, live news, and answer engines. Their AI is effectively blind to 90% of the public web. The result: Stale data. Weak responses. And endless engineering overhead just to stitch everything together. What changed everything for me was Bright Data’s Web Discovery platform. Instead of juggling multiple APIs and unreliable sources, I got real-time access to every public data source through one unified API. Google. Bing. Twitter. Reddit. Instagram. TikTok. ChatGPT. Perplexity. Even historical web archives going back years. Here’s why this actually matters in practice: • One API instead of 10+ fragmented integrations • Real-time, constantly refreshed public web data • Coverage across search engines, social platforms, forums, and answer engines • Consistent data structure that just works • Way less time fighting data plumbing, way more time building intelligence I used it to build a real-time pricing monitor that tracks competitor pricing, social sentiment, and trending topics at the same time. Something that would’ve taken weeks of integration work happened in a single afternoon. The real breakthrough isn’t just access. It’s consistency. Reliability. And freedom. If you’re building search agents, RAG pipelines, or any AI-driven product, you’re handicapping yourself without comprehensive web data. Check the link in the comments to try it yourself. They’re offering trial credits, and the documentation is actually solid. This is the difference between AI products that work and AI products that dominate. Check it out here:

MAY GOD BLESS DR SHARAFUD-DEEN You won’t know how happy I am watching this video. I am so glad that Yoruba land has reputable scholars, unlike the Agege people. As expected, Dr Sharaf excellently displayed his depth of knowledge here yet again. Did you see how he introduced his book on inheritance (Al-Faraid)? He identified a specific problem before offering his solution. He observed that many existing texts in the Maliki school focus heavily on the theory (Fiqh) but often leave students struggling with the actual mathematics (Hisab) needed to calculate shares. He saw that gap and wrote this book to combine both deep understanding and practical calculation. This is a massive lesson for us young people. Real intellectual work is about finding the "Research Gap." It is about stopping to ask, "What is everyone else missing?" and then building a bridge to fix it. Dr Sharaf went deep, researching across schools to isolate exactly where the Maliki methodology stands uniquely, such as in the specific cases where they differ from Zaid ibn Thabit. He also codified the "binding laws" (Dawabit) that govern the subject, proving that you haven't mastered a science until you can define the laws that restrict it. Whether you are in Islamic studies, engineering, or business, this is the blueprint. Be a researcher who adds value by organising chaos and solving the problems others have overlooked. I can’t wait to buy the book and learn from his wealth of knowledge. May Allah reward our teacher, preserve him, and accept this heavy work as a Sadaqah Jariyah.

What you’re about to see may be the single craziest training video that I’ve ever seen. A John Deere USA source sent me this video where employees are trained on what to do if they overhear employees saying that they’re uncomfortable with trans identifying men in women’s restrooms. So what’s an employee supposed to do if they overhear this discomfort from their female colleagues? Report them because it’s a "violation" of THE MAN’S privacy. Seriously. The training goes on to say that "trans women are women, and they’ve never not been a woman" so it’s "not accurate" to say that they used to be a man. This is absolutely absurd. Does John Deere know who they sell farming equipment to? This lunacy needs to stop. Companies all need to stop pushing these topics at work. Stop telling women that they can’t be upset by men in their bathrooms. Stop creating groups that divide people by race or identity. Stop racial hiring quotas. Stop woke trainings. Stop pushing agendas for political causes. Stop introducing divisive subjects. Ban wokeness in the workplace. Stop woke donations. Make work about work again. Just do good work, make great products and provide great customer service. That’s all people want. It seems like the only companies you can find anymore who aren’t pushing wokeness are on On PublicSquare you can search for non-woke alternatives to most products. PublicSquare knows how important this fight to end wokeness is so I’m proud to partner with them to provide people with non-woke alternatives. John Deere was contacted for comment on this to give them the chance to disavow this training but they refused to comment by deadline. If you want to do your part to support our reporting, subscribe to my page here on X so you can help power the fight to end wokeness. Together, we can create real, lasting change.

We just launched Frido Vajra Gaming chair which is arguably light years ahead of current generation of gaming chairs in market. Our team just didn’t wanted to launch another gaming chair, we wanted to change the Gaming Chair Industry by showing what’s possible and fix every single compromise that the current chairs are built on. There is nothing that comes close to this, at least not in India. This will probably surpass the feature benchmarks of global bests but we will wait till international influencers love it as much as Indian ones did. Fingers crossed 🤞 Timestamp guidance for those who are keen to explore specifics in livestream but don’t have the time to watch it in full ⤵️ 1/ 0:30 From 1 to 3 million customers Frido was founded in 2015. We started by solving real mobility problems. Today, over 3 million people use Frido products. 2/ 3:00 Why Most Gaming Chairs Fail to Deliver Most gaming chairs optimise for looks, not performance. Existing Neck pillows don’t support and are cosmetic. Lumbar pillows that come with gaming chair are unusable. Armrests wobble. Recline feels unsafe. They look premium but function average. 3/ 12:30 A Neck Rest That Actually Works Vajra uses a magnetic neck rest. No straps. It adjusts naturally with height and movement and provides real cervical support. 4/ 16:20 Smart and 3D Back Support for Real Gaming Posture Gamers lean forward. Vajra’s 3D lumbar backrest moves with the user to maintain spinal support during gameplay, typing, and streaming. Available in mechanical and electric variants. 5/ 19:45 Recline Without Fear Stability was non negotiable. A 370 mm base radius keeps the chair stable even at deep recline. You can relax without thinking twice. 6/ 22:30 Armrests That Stay Put These are 4D armrests built for stability. They move where needed and lock firmly in place. No accidental shifts mid game. 7/ 25:30 Built In Recovery Vajra includes a rechargeable haptic massage system and a solid weight bearing footrest. Both are designed for recovery during long sessions. NEVER SURRENDER It’s all theater. They’re all actors. The world is a stage. Nothing is real. Comments like these are all over the internet lately. People are so exhausted by relentless lies and corruption that they’re opting out altogether. I feel them. I do. There are times when I want to walk away and never look back. (If you want to dive deeper with me on these types of topics and a chance to personally ask me specific questions, make sure to sign up to join my newsletter at mikkiwillisdotcom) It’s in those moments that I have to remind myself—wait, this is exactly what they want me to do. Then I recall that infamous quote attributed to a former CIA director: “We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.” What you’re doing might feel like rebellion—but it’s not. What you’re actually doing is playing into the final stage of their disinformation program. The angry comments you will inevitably leave on this video will serve as evidence of your level of indoctrination. You’ve allowed them to convince you that, to be a true dissident, a real freedom fighter, a genuine black sheep, you must completely disavow everything. Stop engaging. Stop fighting for what you believe in. Just stop caring. You’ve been programmed to believe this is what strength looks like. When, in fact, it is surrender. You are surrendering. All the tough-talking renegades think they’re beating the system by abandoning it. But the real badasses are the ones who stay in the fight to build a new system. So yes—I agree that both political parties are failing us, and that the vast majority of selected leaders are merely puppets. But that doesn’t discourage me. If anything, it fires me up. It fires me up because it shows that, for the first time in modern history, we the people are waking up from the illusion that some superhero is going to swoop in and save the day. You are the hero of your life. No one else. This is your hero’s journey. The man who coined that phrase, Joseph Campbell, spent most of his life studying the stories humans have shared since the beginning of time. What he discovered was that regardless of era or culture, humanity tells similar myths—stories designed to help each generation understand its deepest purpose for existing. His work was so profound that in the 1970s Hollywood began using it as a structural template for screenplays. Most iconic films worth remembering follow the arc of Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. And while every hero’s path is unique, all roads lead to a similar crescendo. You’ve seen it a thousand times: The reluctant hero is forced to face their greatest fear. A fierce battle ensues. And just when all hope appears lost… The battered hero finds a new strength. The strength to rise. To stand tall. To look the dragon dead in the eyes and… We did not come here to surrender. Share everywhere! (If you want to dive deeper with me on these types of topics and a chance to personally ask me specific questions, make sure to sign up to join my newsletter at mikkiwillisdotcom)

DYTD PRESS TOUR #DareYouToDeathPressTour #จุงดัง #JoongDunk : if the two of you have issues concerning love - who do you think could give advice to the other? who would be whose advisor? 🌻: for me it would probably be him because i’m more of a supportive type 🌞oh you mean if there’s… 🌻if it’s about seeking advice 🌞then i’d probably be the one giving advice : in all matters does anyone come to you for advice? 🌞not really : or there anything Joong often relies on Dunk for? 🌞: relying on Dunk… mostly i rely on myself : it’s about sharing things 🌞 then yes but not like having a problem and immediately asking Dunk : or in terms of lifestyle—who comes to mind first? 🌻: it’s like when we’re acting in this series— “if i’m not here who would you act with?” 🌞: but most of the time what i ask Dunk for is snacks because he bakes. like when he comes up with a new dessert i’d say : “hey i really want to try that” for real-life problems i usually solve them myself. when i talk to him it’s mostly about cute things— what to eat - taking photos and going out together 🌻that’s right : i get it—since you’ve worked and lived together for many years - sometimes just making eye contact is enough. seeing each other so often turns things into everyday life - rather than serious matters 🌻yeah actually we rarely consult each other seriously 🌞it’s like this— some friends are real advisors the kind you talk to about heavy life issues. but there are also friends …. 🌻 who are there to bring joy and energy 🌞we are just became silly together (like children) 🌻that’s right - that’s the mode we’re in 🌞🌻 for stressful topics we’ve agreed not to talk about them. we agreed to talk about things that aren’t stressful— 🌞: we stick to light - carefree conversations 🌻just seeking happiness when we’re together : and honestly i think this is a really good way to manage a relationship because it cuts down on small issues - resentmentand arguments very easily— 🌞 we’ve tried many approaches and this one seems to work best 🌞because if we had to sit down and talk too seriously it might not suit everyone. some relationships aren’t meant for “deep talk” … honestly some people don’t understand that way - it might be easier to communicate differently 🌻: or some people the ones who “deep talk” - might not be the silly fun type of friend 🌻: we would be… relaxed chill and comfortable together

Have you ever avoided having an open conversation with someone at work or someone close to you in your personal life? Maybe you did it to avoid hurting them, or because you were afraid of losing the relationship, or simply because you lacked the courage to address the issue. Whatever the reason might be, we often tend to shy away from discussing difficult topics with others, and it can have serious consequences. In the short term, it may seem like we have successfully avoided a confrontation, but in the long term, the relationship is bound to suffer. And if we’re on the receiving end of a toxic relationship, it’s even more important to communicate openly and honestly. As a monk who has been living in an ashram with over 50 other monks for years, I learned the importance of not avoiding healthy and open conversations about issues affecting our relationships. Although we practice spiritual principles in our ashram, we are still human beings with our own individual differences. And I believe that true spirituality means facing our issues with wisdom, empathy, and sensitivity rather than escaping them. So, let’s not compromise healthy communication for the sake of temporary peace. Instead, let’s have sensitive, open dialogues at the right time and save our most valuable relationships. #RelationshipAdvice #RelationshipTips #relationshipgoals #communication #SpeakUp #Sensitive #empathy #PeopleFirst #HOME #FamilyFirst #WednesdayMotivation #wednesdaythought #EnergizeYourMind #lifesamazingsecrets #thewayofthemonk #monkify #monkifyapp #monkifyyourlife #gaurgopaldas #GaurGopalDas

Here is the Geometry Nodes Weighted Normals with Laplacian Blur on a full character (a vroid). It easily improves the shading even on game topology with almost no setup. I built this as part of my quest to improve real time toon shading. 3D anime models are popular, but use of dynamic light is rare even among high quality vtuber models. This is for several reasons, but a big one is simply that it takes a lot of Custom Normals work to make 3D cel shading not look like a jagged mess (other pieces of the puzzle are issues like deformations, multiple lights, etc). And fixing Normals is tedious, especially on existing game topology. I have focused on proxy meshes for priority areas like character faces, but they aren't an efficient solution for the whole body + outfit. I wanted something I could just throw on any model and make it at least not a jagged mess anymore even if it wasn't perfect. As you can see from this clip, this does that very well! And vertex groups can be used to control the style of the effect and power. It still can't smooth beyond what the topology density can support, but the topo itself is no longer a problem (for higher res, could be run on a subdivided version of the model and then baked to a Normal Map.) The only changes I made to this model were adding a weld modifier to merge split edges during interpolation, and a vertex group to select the skirt. I have not yet added full handling and logic for detecting edges with big angles like the skirt, or for handling boundaries like on the hair, so both those areas can get better too. You can also see that while it successfully smooths out the Face, it isn't really stylistically correct there. That is still best done with a proxy mesh to define a new shape. This is part of the tools I am working on for Fondant. We are putting together a Blender Addon to release this + a proxy mesh tool for the face, and are working on resolving other problems in-engine to fully bring dynamic light to real time 3D toon shading. Give us a follow, and send them a DM if you are interested in testing these tools as they develop!
