(PMID: 35285920) ❌ Claims about Coke Zero wrecking your gut or making you crave more? No human evidence supports that. •Gut microbiome: A randomized, double-blind crossover trial found no changes with aspartame use (PMID: 33171964). A recent review also concluded that aspartame and Ace-K typically do not impact the microbiome in human RCTs (PMID: 37111090). •Cravings & intake: A meta-analysis showed switching to diet beverages instead of sugar sweetened beverages help people consume fewer calories and even lose more weight than switching to water (PMID: 26365102). So yes — Coke Zero > regular Coke. Credit to Laura Menninger for calling that right 👏 … but the “gut and cravings” claims don’t hold up in humans. 👉 Do you drink diet soda, or skip soda altogether?

the famous gas station Buccee’s, but I did stop at one on vacation and noticed something very interesting. Buccees is almost 90% all in-house (generic) soda offerings, probably at a significant cost savings. In fact, they may only have 1 or 2 brand name flavors per fountain machine. I’ve never heard of anyone speaking negative to this. They have mastered this beverage strategy which sounds easy but it’s not. Coca-Cola syrup prices have skyrocketed in cost and they developed a way around it. I can only applaud this. Now - I wonder how many other concepts will start to develop their own flavors. While no one will out do a Diet Coke or regular Coke, the secondary flavors may be fair game 🤷‍♂️ Would use choose any of these flavors over a Coke offering? •Buc-ee's Diet Cola. •Buc-ee's Vanilla Cola. •Buc-ee's Root Beer. •Buc-ee's Sarsaparilla Soda. •Buc-ee's Vanilla Cream Soda. •Buc-ee's Blue Cream Soda. •Buc-ee's Orange Dream Soda Of course you can’t forget to try their brisket and pull pork sandwiches!
