to fake depth in a flat top-down world... added shadows that are just the element's own art, mirrored at its feet then u skew it, control the length, cast it in front or behind halftone dots instead of blur, so it still looks like print. all css, no shaders... kinda fun

added enemies who will chase you and try to hurt you if you get near them lol

looks nice! i was planning to do a similar thing with inks and a brush pen, but the number of frames i see here makes me think i was really stupid and therefore ambitious

pretty sure you can do a lot with fewer frames too! and u could use css animations to simulate some of the movements too
