The whole safety car routine needs a complete overhaul Put the lapped cars at the back rather than wasting time letting them past.

Odd how they managed to follow the regs here but not in 🇦🇪21. They had agreed to allow racing which included red flag for the last few laps, yet they didn’t do that….

Hopefully safety car procedures will be reviewed and changed at the next opportunity. Thing that gets brought up is lapped cars should just drop behind the lead lap cars. Dont care if they get lap back or not. If they are lapped to begin with they arent in contention.

The rules were followed today and this is how it should have ended in 21

Maybe in future a safety car inside the last five laps (say) is a default red flag. Then we get a proper start. Lapped cars go to the back etc stc

Here’s an idea. Red flag the race then.

Well they knew by unlapping cars there would be no time for another race lap. Just leave the cars where they were and race. They were there before that incident, leave them there. People didn't travel across the world to watch cars trundling around, they want to see racing.

My solution to this madness, which FIA not see, is have all the lapped cars go in to the pit lane, and whe the crocodile has gone past, release them directly to the back of the queue and restart the race on that lap, simple to enforce, and quickly get the racing going again!

And yet the FIA have since come out and said it was a software glitch…. 🤥

I think this was complete nonsense. The FIA pulled another Abu Dhabi 2021 on Lewis Hamilton. I think that Lewis with the soft tyre he got during the safety car, he could have easily passed Russel and then had a a chance to pass Lerclerc to get his home win and Ferrari knew that.

Really? That’s whole of 22,23,24,25, and half of 26 where the lapped cars unlapped themselves and THEN we had another safety car lap? I’m not having a dig I genuinely didn’t know we had this rule and we’ve done 4 seasons and it hasn’t come up before

Can you imagine paying to watch a race. Only for it to finish under the safety car!

Why do they not just let the lapped cars unlap themselves when the hazard is being cleared? That way as soon as the track is cleared they can race out of the way for the next lap to restart the race

2021 will never be forgotten

A rule must come in that if a safety car is to be deployed in say the last five laps it is a red flag so they have to race to the finish rather than follow a safety car.

Its got NOTHING to do with Safety Its not "The @fia is 'Safety First." Not on here today! This is a mess all of the @fia's own doing, because they have to be seen to continue allowing backmarkers to pass the safety car (ridiculous), just like they did in Abu Dhabi in Dec 2021!

If a safety car is out in final 5-6 Laps then lapped traffic doesn't get allowed to overtake simple as. Priorities getting back to racing over unlapping traffic
