Even though I agree with most of these statements that you just laid out about different cultures etc, it still does not, in any way, shape or form, excuse nor justify our POTUS calling Ilhan Omar and all Somalian people garbage. It’s tactless and embarrassing, to say the least. It also doesn’t justify him ridiculing her “hijab” wearing, or amplifying stereotypical lies that she married her brother, which isn’t factual and he knows it. This story is not just false, it’s racist and deliberately engineered to make a black Muslim woman seem both a foreign “other” and a criminal. It’s the kind of lie that’s made to stick , because it taps into those deep cultural fears and divisiveness that make people react. And you know, like all good smear campaigns, it begins with a whisper that spreads, eventually metastasizing into a conspiracy, when the truth doesn’t even matter anymore. So let’s just be honest about that as well and call out our President when he resorts to this kind of nonsense which is not who we should be as Americans.
