A REALLY simplified way of putting it that ive found is that people should focus on WHO people are instead of WHAT they are. WHAT they are is their sex. WHO they are is their gender.

When I first saw this movie all I thought was awwww cute robots in love ❤️

I used to make this same argument, but I used Optimus prime and Glados as my male and female examples.

wait so wal-e could technically be about a beautiful yuri relationship?

low-key this was kinda super well put together

The names are also a factor. Wally is a male name, Eva is a female name. It's kinda right there. And now I realise I don't know what a female wally equivalent would be... Waltilda.

Hold on that's actually a good analogy

Banger explanation

I think it’s a little misleading to say “social construct” because ultimately gender is about the psychology of a person expressing themselves with preconceived social norms rather than anything to do completely with societal pressure

Note. Yes your given a specified gender at birth do to genitals But for something with out You are well nothing But if you think In a videogame sense It's your default and you decide to customize your character how you want

HOLD ON I GOTTA GET MY NOTEBOOK!..

I really like how you used Wall-e and Eva as an example. I've tried explaining to my friend how gender is a social construct based on different factors as you have here, but it missed the mark. I think I'll share this with him 😃

Now sex IS what's down there. Gender and Sex are different

EEEEEEEVA

Then why do people get so mad at sex identification

dude I think that's the best explanation you can give to people who don't know...

im not watching this when theres sand pits to play in

You forgot the most important part: This only applies to things that don't have a biological sex.

La mejor explicación que he visto con los mejores personajes de Pixar ❤️🫰

I never thought of them as regular genders. But I'm glad someone made something about this.

everything I understood is wall-e is best movie ever

I just watched your video and really liked it. I think it's an important topic—one that really doesn't get talked about enough. ^^👍

That was amazingly well done. AND USING WALL-E, YOU SPOIL ME

Or maybe it’s because it’s a kids movie

This assumes premises like perspectives that we agree with you, if we do not agree with semantics and your perspectives then this whole thing fall apart.

This is actually a really good explanation bravo mate

Isn't the "it's about how you perceive yourself" kind of shoehorned into this explanation? If we're trying to understand gender through WALL-E, then only the "because of how they carry themselves(gender expression)" part makes sense.

Oh you have a point! thanks for explaining
