Here is some fabulous news on the International Day of Forests 2025. Tamil Nadu is on a Mission to create new Mangrove forests & restore degraded ones.Through strategic afforestation & ecosystem revival efforts, the state is reinforcing its natural coastal defense and fostering biodiversity through Green TN Mission. New Mangrove forests have been planted in 5,937.9 acres while restoration of degraded Mangroves forests has been done in 3,539 acres across 10 districts, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram,Thoothukudi and Chennai. The best news is this is being done with local community participation. This will give a massive biodiversity boost to local livelihood of fisherfolk, strengthen climate resilience as these forests act as natural shields against coastal erosion and will help in carbon sequestration being the best natural carbon sinks, tackling climate change. With science backed restoration and sustained efforts, every hectare restored is a step towards a greener, more resilient future #MangroveRestoration #ClimateAction #GreenTamilNadu #CoastalResilience #Mangroves #GreenTNMission #worldforestday #internationaldayofforest2025 #internationaldayofforest Global Mangrove Alliance

An infrared camera in the Luoxu Provincial Nature Reserve captured a rare moment as a snow leopard and a leopard appeared at the same spot in succession. This scene shows the rich biodiversity and thriving wildlife of Shiqu County, southwest China's Sichuan.

If you dug a hole in your nearest forest between the tree roots you would see a giant web of fungi… It’s so big that if you took what’s in just the top layer of the Earth and spread it out, it would be nearly as long as half the Milky Way Galaxy. And trees use this network to talk to each other. But what are they saying?

Where are the trees? We have A LOT of this landscape and less than 4% native woodland. This landscape should be a rich mosaic of habitats, moor, bog, woodland, montane scrub… We force it to remain in this artificial state. We don’t need to give every inch of our uplands over to sheep, grouse and deer stalking. If we are serious about reversing biodiversity loss then we urgently need to choose a different path.

Germany says wind power is needed to protect nature, and in the black forest that means industrializing the forest itself. The Baden-Württemberg state government changed the planning rules so previous protections no longer restrict wind development across roughly 15,000 hectares (about 21,000 soccer fields). The state's own forestry agency says each turbine permanently removes around 0.5 hectares of forest, with roughly that again needed during construction. So, Germany's green transition looks like this: Clear woodland. Cut in access roads. Pour concrete foundations. Import industrial turbines from China. Then erect them across protected forests.

This is the Democrat Candidate in the state house race in Douglas County, Colorado. This happened in May, before the June primary. The Democrats ran him anyway. He is on the ballot for November. Drunk, disorderly, combative, in Texas. Later clips as he sobers up show him slurring … “do you know who I am???“ and cussing the police. Democrats are not sending their best.
