The man speaking in English in the video is Yuan Jiajun. At the time, he was Party Secretary (equivalent to governor) of Zhejiang, one of China's richest provinces. He's now the top leader of Chongqing, the only major city in western China with direct central oversight. Yuan began his career as an aerospace engineer and once served as deputy general manager of China Aerospace Science & Tech Corporation. He later entered politics, starting in the remote Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, before rising through Zhejiang and now Chongqing. By 2027, he’s widely seen as a likely top national leader—possibly even premier.
