🔵 CHARGES LAID 🔵 Investigators have charged 2 adults & 1 youth in a March 2026 extortion incident involving threats to a victim & a shooting at her home. 📍 At about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, a woman began receiving WhatsApp text & voice messages demanding money. The suspects used detailed knowledge of her personal & business affairs, including her name, address, business information & family details. The caller repeatedly contacted the victim & made explicit threats of violence. About 12 hours later, just before 4:30 a.m., an unknown suspect fired a gun at the victim’s home before fleeing in a vehicle. Using physical & digital evidence, including CCTV, investigators identified a suspect vehicle & several possible suspects. 📌 On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, a 17-year-old male was arrested for facilitating communication between the victim & those making threats. He is charged with 1 count of extortion. The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. 📌 This week, investigators also arrested Kanureet KAUR, 23, of Chestermere. She allegedly provided personal information that helped suspects identify, locate & intimidate the victim & her family. KAUR is charged with 1 count of extortion. 🔴 We are also asking for help to locate Tanveer SINGH, 21, of Calgary, wanted on a warrant for possession of stolen property over $5,000 in relation to a stolen vehicle used during the shooting. Attempted Car-Jacking Gone Bad in Philly: Police in Philadelphia have released this dash cam video of a man narrowly escaping a car-jacking by multiple suspects, including one who was armed. At the end of the video police have been able to partially identify the suspects thanks to a recording on a train right before the incident. The suspects used the stolen car to try and box the victim in, but the man was able to swiftly reverse his vehicle and flee the scene. Throughout the investigation, officers wrote 74 judicial authorizations & executed 15 search warrants. 📌 In December 2025, search warrants in Delacour & Chestermere led to the seizure of cash, forged prescription documents, prescription medication & a radio-frequency jammer. Ausama MOHAMED & Bonnie LEBLANC were charged with fraud-related offences. 📌 In March 2026, search warrants executed on 2 Calgary residences & 3 vehicles resulted in the seizure of a loaded gun, ammunition, cash & drugs. Some of the drugs were located individually wrapped & concealed in a vehicle’s door panelling. Mohammed SALIMI & Omed SALIMI were charged with drug-trafficking offences. 📌 The next day, a traffic stop by the Gang Suppression Team led to the seizure of a loaded gun, ammunition, drugs & brass knuckles, all concealed behind a vehicle panel. Jayson McCORMACK was charged with firearms, drug-trafficking, weapons, resisting arrest & proceeds of crime offences. A man, aged 25 from Sudan, has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains on police bail at this time. Investigating officers have been carrying out numerous lines of inquiry since this incident was reported to us and continue to do so. Three Suspects Arrested After Carjacking in Oshawa Three suspects have been arrested after a carjacking in Oshawa. On Saturday, September, 13 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., members from Central East Division responded to a carjacking in the area of Nonquon Road and Mary Street North. The victim parked his vehicle in a parking lot when he was approached by three masked suspects. The suspects began assaulting the victim before leaving the area in the victim’s vehicle. Officers located the stolen vehicle travelling northbound on Stevenson Road and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop for police and continued northbound on Stevenson Road. Officers followed the vehicle and it went westbound on Conlin Road. The driver lost control, crashing the vehicle into a field at Conlin Road and Anderson Street. The three suspects then fled on foot into the greenspace. With the assistance of Air1, all parties were located and taken into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault and was treated at a local area hospital for his injuries. During a search of one of the suspects, officers seized a large knife and an airsoft gun. A 30-year-old male of no fixed address is charged with several offences including: Robbery with violence; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5,000.00; Disguise with Intent; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. A 19-year-old male of Scarborough is charged with several offences including: Robbery with Violence; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5,000.00; Disguise with Intent and Possess Weapons Dangerous to Public Peace x2. A 20- year old male of Scarborough is charged with several offences including: Robbery with Violence; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5,000.00; Disguise with Intent; Possess Weapons Dangerous to Public Peace and Possess Prohibited Weapon. They were held for bail hearings. This incident marks the third violent carjacking in Durham Region over a two-week period. Air1 Assists TPS in Locating Suspects in Shooting Investigation The DRPS Air1 helicopter assisted Toronto Police Service in the arrest of two suspects in a shooting investigation. On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m., officers from Central West Division responded to the area of Thickson Road North and Taunton Road East after receiving information from Toronto Police Service that two suspects involved in a shooting in Toronto earlier that afternoon were in the area. Air1 conducted an aerial search of the area and located the suspect vehicle in a driveway of a residence in Whitby. Shortly after, the vehicle left the residence and Air1 followed the vehicle into Oshawa, providing updates to TPS and DRPS officers on the ground. At one point, the suspect got into another vehicle, which Air1 began to follow. At approximately 5:15 p.m., units were able to box in the vehicle the suspects fled on foot. The woman was walking near East 1st Avenue and Commercial Drive when the suspect, who was walking in the opposite direction, allegedly elbowed her in the face. Vancouver Police previously issued a release in March 2026, after the same suspect was charged in connection with four alleged stranger assaults against women in the downtown core. Dylan Brandon Gaita, 29, is now charged with one count of assault in relation to the June 29 incident. He is currently in custody. VPD is asking any member of the public who may have witnessed the June 29 incident, or have witnessed a similar incident in the past, to contact police. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward. “Incidents like this are serious and frightening for victims and witnesses,” says Constable Megan Lui. “Some people may feel too upset to talk to us. Man Arrested After Knife Incident, Bradford College A man has been arrested following an incident near Bradford College this morning. Reports were received from 9.21am of a man armed with what appeared to be a knife on Great Horton Road. He was detained by college security staff and arrested by attending officers. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting two members of the public and assaulting two emergency workers. He was also arrested for a racially-aggravated public order offence and causing damage to a police vehicle. The two injured members of the public have been taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A small gardening tool was seized by police at the scene. Detective Inspector Ailis Coates said: “We know that this incident will understandably cause some concern in the community. I would like to reassure people that the suspect was quickly detained by security staff and arrested by the police. “We understand that this incident has been witnessed by a large number of people and that some people may have filmed bits of it. We would ask them to please share this footage with the police as it could greatly assist us in our ongoing investigation. “We currently have a police scene in place on Great Horton Road and people can expect to see our neighbourhood policing colleagues in the area providing reassurance to college staff and students and the wider community.”
