Natural rubber is extracted from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) by making incisions in the bark to allow the latex sap to flow out, which is then collected in cups. This milky fluid, or latex, is then processed to coagulate into rubber sheets, which are dried and further treated to create the rubber used in products.
