Worth noting that Peter Orszag isn't just some powerful Obama alum who likes Abundance and hates populism, he has been a source for @ezraklein for almost two decades. He was last on Ezra's podcast in April.

@DKThomp I don't hold either @ezraklein or @DKThomp for what Peter Orszag says, but they do tend to refuse to correct their longtime friends and sources making these kinds of claims. So they can't exactly be surprised at the bitter reaction.

Peter Orszag wanted Biden to get rid of Lina Khan, and his ideal business model is the government gives checks to UnitedHealth Group to roll-up the entire health care industry. And he helped design Obamacare! Everyone is mad because he built a system that only worked for him!

My told me that deals used to be done wirh a handshake. Company owners had a social contract to give back to community. Today, there is no honor, ethics or integrity. I mean how much profit is enough? How many billions does one person need(how many millions?). Does a ceo of an airline really deserve 22 million dollars a year? Especially while employees work their asses off on weather and wirh equipment from the 70s (most of us contracted so paid poorly and no benefits like mainline).

He argues the right invokes Mamdani to deflect from its own slide into open bigotry, and uses the moment to analyze a deeper split in how Israel is understood across the spectrum. Klein says anti-Zionism on the left usually flows from universalism, the belief that all people deserve equal rights, and anger at Israel comes from how those rights are denied to Palestinians. On the right, he says the critique of Israel is rooted in ethnostate thinking, where Jews quickly become an ethnic “other” inside America.
