I have said throughout the whole campaign that our southern border should be like our front porch. There should be a giant welcome mat out front AND a lock on the door. You can welcome hardworking immigrants who want to contribute to this country and keep out people who mean to do us harm. Those are not mutually exclusive goals. But the Republicans don't want you to know that those two things are possible. Texans and Americans are looking for leaders who are going to hold two things in their mind at once, being pro-immigrant and pro-security. They want leaders who are going to hold both those values together at the same time.

A dirty airport road tells visitors wrongly that Lagos is chaotic, unserious, and careless with its environment. The painful part is that this problem is AVOIDABLE. Airport Road should be one of the most protected, most maintained corridors in the state. Illegal dumping should be impossible there. Waste management should be airtight. Monitoring should be constant. If we want to be taken seriously on the global stage, then the basics must be respected. You don’t welcome guests through a dirty front door.
