To Sara Duterte’s dismay, the Zaldy Co “exposè” is a dud. The more he does it, the more social media finds inconsistencies in his stories. Videos as bargaining chips? Why am I not surprised? I think Zaldy Co and Sara Duterte both underestimated the intelligence of Filipinos — the smirk on Sara Duterte in her recent interviews felt as if she’s already celebrating. Only to find out that no one is rallying behind their back. The fact remains, those he is accusing of are here and he is the one in hiding. And unless he comes home, nothing he says will stand in court and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Today, even Majority Leader Sandro Marcos sent a letter to the Independent Commission on Infrastructure saying that he is willing to face any investigation anytime — why wouldn’t he? The Zaldy Co claims against him are laughable to say the least! It is as if Zaldy Co just made a list of projects and prayed that people will buy his story — you cannot even find them in the DPWH list of projects. Some are even in Davao. Please make it make sense. Lols. The same is true with the alleged letter sent to the President — even you can do that and claim the same. It’s just a letter! Yes! The Dutertes failed Davao City. Contrary to the 2016 campaign of the former President Duterte, Davao City has a lot of problems and I dare say that if I compare it to others? It is not living to its great potential. One of my first assignments fresh out of college was our satellite office in Davao City. I was there every Thursday of the week and would return to Manila by Saturday. I did that for two years. After six long years of the Duterte presidency and thirty plus years of Duterte reign in Davao City… nothing much has changed, huh? I went to Davao City twice in the past three months -the airport is still problematic (no aircon, disorganized, filthy), the city looks the same to me. And compared to how fast Cebu City develops? It seems as though Duterte failed Davao City. In the press conference of the House of Representatives yesterday, the Young Guns called out the Vice President for blaming the current administration for the flood in Davao City. Congressman Jill Bongalon cited the 51 Billion DPWH fund of Congressman Pulong Duterte during the Duterte administration, if flooding is indeed a problem there… Why didn’t he prioritize that? Imagine! 51 billion pesos in one district?! Then the Vice President would have the audacity to blame the national government for things her family cannot do? Just like Congressman Bongalon, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations, I would like to know the infrastructure projects done with the 51 billion fund allotted to his district. Maybe the government agencies can also check who the contractors of those projects are. That’s a lot of money! The 51 billion was aside from the enormous IRA or Internal Revenue Allotment of the LGU fund that was then headed by the Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. Davao City deserves better! Through that, the solons were baffled by the number of obvious franchise violations including failure to open 20% of its shares to the public. Deputy Speaker Jayjay Suarez moved to conduct a Motu proprio inquiry regarding the franchise of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines. Congressman Pulong Duterte, do you ever feel bothered by your conscience seeing the people of Mindanao losing their lives and suffer in the way they do, year in year out because of flooding? When you took the P51 billion from the taxpayers’ money during your father’s failed administration, under cover of the stench of thousands of deaths and the dying from the Covid19 pandemic, did you and your father not not think about the ordinary people of Mindanao and elsewhere who has been suffering from the corruption your family brought into the nation of 115 million Filipinos? Your father, the inutile Rodrigo Duterte, knew of the corruption that has plagued the country for so long. But he was to tell the nation later— “there’s nothing I can do.” Instead of fighting it as he promised, he not only joined the criminal enterprise— he became the figurehead and centralised his government’s criminal operations, thereby optimising his grip on power and influence. Funding for flood control projects were not only stolen and manipulated, he entrenched and consolidated people into positions of power and influence, himself as the kingpin. Under his regime, flood control projects fund scams flourished and made its heyday. He became the very symbol and protector of corruption he sought to overcome. Fast forward in the middle of the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte, we witnessed her thick-skinned Chief of Staff Zuleika Lopez, callously declaring— “prepare for Typhoon Inday” as if the tragedy is not enough. On its latest, Typhoon Inday killed 5 people and 6 others missing in one location alone in Maguindanao for a total of 17 deaths and 9 missing in the Visayas and Mindanao which bore the brunt of the deluge. And it’s only just the beginning, there are many more destructive typhoons to come. And whilst Mindanao and the Visayas was suffering, the Dutertes were either gallivanting or busy politicking; their fanatics sowing destabilisation against the very government that exposed their evil deeds. What a state of affairs of Mindanao and its supposed leaders!

President Marcos’ visit to Davao City to unveil the P3.126 billion Davao River Bucana Bridge shows a clear message: real nation-building continues even in places considered as hostile terrain and long treated as the Dutertes’ stronghold of impunity. With the bridge set to open on 15th December and the Davao Coastal Road moving toward full completion in 2027, the administration is delivering solid, visible progress. The same amount of money could have produced 16 bridges of this magnitude had it been given for the right use. To date, Pulong continues to escape accountability.
