On my way to Giga Berlin, I stopped at the VW “Transparent Factory” which served as a car factory and is now an exhibition space in Dresden, Germany. This facility was designed by architect Gunter Henn of the Henn GmbH firm and it originally opened in 2002 and produced the Volkswagen Phaeton until 2016. In 2017, it produced the electric version of the Golf. Recently, the ID.3 was the last car produced in this factory from January 2021 until the factory's closure in December 2025. This is open to the public, they provide some tours and it showcases some of the manufacturing processes, prototypes, battery and undercarriage mockups and even serves as a delivery center for customers. For me, it is a great way to get ready to view Giga Berlin tomorrow and serves as a reference point for the processes, technology, manufacturing techniques and factory design used by Tesla at Giga Texas, Giga Berlin and their other factories in China and the US. I hope you enjoy this quick view of the VW “Transparent Factory”!

Police acted swiftly on the information and conducted an operation at the premises, which resulted in the arrest of nine undocumented foreign nationals. All nine suspects were arrested and detained while the necessary immigration and administrative processes are being finalised. The local municipality has been engaged regarding the matter, and it is expected that the factory will be closed pending further investigations.
