Funny thing is Wes, that they operate an insurance system in The Netherlands. Not once in the many times when I took my little girl to hospital for chemotherapy there was I ever… EVER … asked for my credit card. What I did see were the bills which went straight to my insurer of the tens of thousands of Euros her treatment cost (truly eye opening) but they made no difference to our premiums. As higher rate tax payers we paid the top amount for our whole family and it was the same as my friends who weren’t so unfortunate as to have such a poorly child. I’m so fed up that we have to accept a substandard healthcare system in this country because the moment anyone tries to ask if there’s a better way (like most other European countries) people like you spout your simplistic scaremongering about the US system.
