Unfortunately this kind of anti AI backlash is extremely common on YT especially. See: what Hank Green just went through. I wish it was a psyop 🫠😵‍💫but this is what masses of the public believe

Yeah all of my film and entertainment friends flamed me after releasing Osmo Studio! As a filmmaker I totally get where they are coming from, but as someone who knows how to do things the traditional way AND gets so much of using AI as a new medium to accomplish specific parts of the filmmaking process faster/better/higher fidelity I am sooo optimistic.

Yeah people on YT hate AI and have a lot of strange opinions about tech more broadly. I’m trying to get out of news and politics side of YouTube and back onto tech youtube where people are normal and informed bc the discourse everywhere else is too poisoned

Not a single claim is grounded in reality. How does that happen to a person's mind? Always amazes me. AI ain't got nothing on human hallucination.

I'm no evangelist of AI, but my god these reactions are so aggressive. It feels like a "ignorance breeds fear, fear breeds contempt". That said, I really think the contempt is misdirected at the wrong people.

Do these people even realize that spending hours on TikTok is consuming the same amount (or more!) of electricity and water from data centers too?

you can’t win against those anti-ai people. trying to convince them to see things in a more nuanced way does exactly the opposite. it’s quite disappointing :(

Yeah a lot of it is based purely on emotion and so facts are basically irrelevant. Unfortunately this will only change with time I fear!

I’m asking myself a lot these days if the people who very early implemented CGI in their work had the same struggle. Be that as it may, in the midst of an ongoing climate crisis, the impact data centers have on global warming needs to be a core issue people are focusing on.
