For the facial animations in my game, I use a technique that yields results similar to L.A. Noire. To keep it simple: I first generate a facial animation video using AI like LTX 2. Then, I create a video depth map from that animation and project it onto a face mask. Using vertex displacement, the depth map dynamically deforms the face as the character speaks. The result looks good in standalone VR. I actually created this workflow long time ago:

I'm seeing a lot of people saying it is just a bad upscaling instead of Gen AI, but it is indeed Gen AI animation. There are things going on in it that just don't make any sense for puppet animation. Here are some parts that make it clear, I slowed down the video so it's easier to notice the chunky parts. I checked the past ADs and it's possible to notice details (from an animator's POV) that are common and make sense for human work, so it was definitely a choice to use AI on this new AD

Someone looked at me and decided my weight loss must be stalled. I want to talk about what that assumption actually says. It says that if a woman does not look a certain way, she must be failing. It says the goal is to become small enough that strangers feel comfortable with your body. It says your progress is only valid if it is visible and ongoing and pointed toward a destination someone else approved. I have lost 140 pounds in less than a year. That is the equivalent of an adult person gone off my body. I am not stalled. I spent the last couple of months in a deliberate phase of metabolic healing before entering a body recomposition phase. That is not a plateau. That is a plan. And now it is time to build. I am adding the rebounder back. I am adding weights. I am tightening up what was keeping me from the next phase, because progress does not stop just because healing takes time. Metabolic health first, body recomposition second. That was never a detour. That was always the path. The body you are in right now is not a problem to be solved. Mine is healing. Mine is getting stronger. And where I am in my journey is nobody’s business until I decide to make it that way. Meat. Mindset. Movement. All three. In that order.

004/100 Buttons. A bit of the process on building an animation. When looking at a finished animation or in this example a finished button, it can look quite complex inside the CSS. But when building it, it’s more like a lot of simple steps, one after another. Here I had the idea to make some kind of text animation like the footer logo on the Osmo site. I try to add the base animation with no complex easing, for example transition: translate 0.4s ease. Starting with just moving the one text from bottom to top and the other text to top. Adding a stagger, play around with it. Searching for a way to make it more circular. On the research I found the sin() function inside CSS which can build a more smooth non linear curve for the stagger which creates this circular effect. And step by step adding more complexity like, different easing for hover/hover-out, opacity, 3D transform and more. I use also the sin() function to rotate the letters, so the middle ones are getting more rotated than the outer ones. Another thing which helps is to add a small delay on hover, for example 0.05s or 0.1s, you don’t really see the difference, but when you hover pretty fast on and out it doesn’t get that jumpy. I’m using here GSAP’s SplitText to split every char into spans. And then I’m adding a CSS index variable to every span, starting from the center. SplitText can provide CSS index variables, but you cannot tell it from which direction. For the sin() it’s also important to have a max length, so I add another CSS variable with the max char number on it. Crafting 100 Buttons with Osmo ⏳ Total time: 63h

thanks guys for trying the demo! this feels different from the initial demo that we pushed last year in the steam RTS fest. Back then, 95% of feedback was about "lack of tutorial". It made me sad because I didn't really enjoy the game back then and I felt that making a tutorial was pointless. this time, we still don't have a tutorial, only few minor objectives, and still got 10x more feedback. And real feedback from players that played a lot, some of them replayed the same mission many times. for the first time in almost 3 years, I feel confident about encouraging people to try Powerplay. And it will only get bigger and better from here, because I decided to finally end my solo developer era and finally get a partner to help me ship this motherfucker! If you have been following the development you should know who I am talking about 😉 I will announce it soon!

Depth Any Video with Scalable Synthetic Data AI physicists and chemists continue to make strides in depth estimation from video. Check out this new paper featuring some impressive examples. Abstract: Video depth estimation has long been hindered by the scarcity of consistent and scalable ground truth data, leading to inconsistent and unreliable results. In this paper, we introduce Depth Any Video, a model that tackles the challenge through two key innovations. First, we develop a scalable synthetic data pipeline, capturing real-time video depth data from diverse game environments, yielding 40,000 video clips of 5-second duration, each with precise depth annotations. Second, we leverage the powerful priors of generative video diffusion models to handle real-world videos effectively, integrating advanced techniques such as rotary position encoding and flow matching to further enhance flexibility and efficiency. Unlike previous models, which are limited to fixed-length video sequences, our approach introduces a novel mixed-duration training strategy that handles videos of varying lengths and performs robustly across different frame rates 0 - even on single frames. At inference, we propose a depth interpolation method that enables our model to infer high-resolution video depth across sequences of up to 150 frames. Our model outperforms all previous generative depth models in terms of spatial accuracy and temporal consistency.

While I have premium I definitely want to do a long post breaking down the main scene from this show that I obsess with. There's so much that I feel could be learned from it. Not just for expansion animators either. There's honestly a LOT that can be learned from how this show directed its expansion scenes that can be applied to even safe for work animations. Obviously yes, the expansion alone is really good. What makes it so good though is just the fact that there's things you pick up on that you likely don't even realize until you re-watch. I'm using this scene as an example as it's not AS good I would say, but it still has a lot going for it. One thing I've always loved from it that I want to use in my own animations someday is that the expansion sort of comes in waves as opposed to one consistent growth. In a way, it makes it feel more natural while also selling how tight the top is getting. It could have been accompanied by showing the knot getting tighter or smaller with each growth. It's a small part of the animation but just that one thing already adds another layer to appreciate. It's not like most expansion scenes where there's very little outside of just "growing" on its own. There's a bunch of little things that subtly improve it without being obnoxious. The first expansion scene has WAY more that I want to talk about honestly. Far more than this one has. It will probably be a really long post now that I think about it...

More instances of girls literally strategizing for how to finally get men to approach them. These two are so excited to have discovered that by sitting at the bar they can get a guy to approach! That said, it’s not really a completely new thing, guys bypassing women who want to meet guys because they just are not aware of it. I spent my first year hitting nightlife hard two decades ago approaching every girl I could (including ones I thought it would not work with) to test my assumptions and biases. Some things I discovered my first year: ➡️ Girls who are with guys rarely/never get approached. A lot of the times the guys they’re with are nice guy friends or gay best friends and you’re the only actual suitor to approach the whole night. ➡️ Girls in groups of 3+ people only get a few approaches max, and generally only from high energy “Sooooo what are we all up to tonight laaaaaadies???” player types who fail to connect. Most of these girls get 0 sincere approaches unless they split off from the group at some point. ➡️ Girls who aren’t in sync with the venue energy (e.g., introvert girls; girls who got a late start and are sober and not in social mode; etc.) are easy pickings if you know how to calibrate, because most guys can’t or are too drunk to. All these girls are “hidden opportunities” if you even halfway know what you’re doing in nightlife.

first channel i spotted doing this this video generated +260k views in ~30days his strategy consists of animating only the first 1.5 min of the video: > ppl preview his vid while scrolling the YT feed > they see it’s animated == they click > after 2m they’re already engaged > animations disappear > but users keep watching until the end this method seems so obvious to me, don’t know why more people aren’t doing it you save around 3-4x of the costs of animating all the clips while increasing 1.5-2x times the chances of getting better results more engagement more views more revenue from AdSense on Calliopelabs you can do that with full control while still saving several hours of manual generations i recommend using the new Low model, it’s VERY cheap ($0.03/sec) (720p + sfx!) and it’ll get you his same or even better results it’s s bad that i say this but i cooked with this one 🔥

ok so i wanna talk about how crazy and cool beomgyu is. this game is basically like you have to hide well and not get caught by the seekers bc if they catch you, you'll go to jail and you will need to have the key to be free. you will be given the time to find the keys before the seekers start finding you. and from the teaser, beomgyu managed to find 2 out of 4 keys all by himself, by wandering alone in a floor separated from the other 4 like that's genuinely crazy???? 😭 also i heard that he's the first and only one who has pretended to be the seeker in all 5 sumbakkokjil episodes??? 😭😭😭😭 HE'S ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL TRULY

Officially moving on from Tech game after I get this thought off my chest. I more than welcome anyone smarter than me in regards to the football to chime in. I truly, truly, truly cannot wrap my head around the thought process here. These two plays I'm sure anyone with brain can agree officially sealed KU's slim chances in having a chance to win this game. The play calling to me seems like completely flipped in logic at best? First one, you are down 4, on your own 30 so you are not going to go for this. Ignoring that we were getting dominated in the trenches in this game and that the 'obvious' play is a run, I don't get why we make the decision in a must get spot to take the ball out of our QB's (who at the time was rolling) hands. Jalon Daniels is our best player. In an absolute must get/need, we should be relying on him to make a play. Then the second one. I obviously don't know the answer here, but I feel somewhat confident that the reason we didn't run here was because of how the earlier 3rd & 1 run went. While I don't necessarily agree with the premise of decision making on this alone, I can appreciate the recognition that we are going to struggle to gain a yard in an obvious run situation. But the thing is, we are in go for it range so the one thing you absolutely cannot have is a massive negative play. Literally anything else is okay (obviously not a turnover). I truly don't think there's a good chance we run the ball on this attempt and get a yard. But THIS situation gives you a free shot at it if you want to take it. I think this play call would have worked if we didn't let their best player run at our qb freely but I'd just argue this play had a ton of potential risk that wasn't necessary. Hell even a play action pass out of out shot gun or something rolling JD out to the left would have given us a good shot at first down with an escape route to bail out on the play if something went wrong. I'm once again for the millionth time saying I know and understand that this entire staff knows more about football in their pinky than I do. But I do think the game has evolved and game + clock management doesn't really require football knowledge/have a direct correlation to one's football knowledge. It's not as simple as ESPN's graphic says GO so you should go etc, there are variables and human behavior etc to deal with and I understand that. But we are just getting these situations downright wrong. We are flipping a coin that has a 20 pound weight attached to the heads side and calling tails almost every single time. S/O anyone who read all this but would just love some insight if there's anyone who disagrees and is a lot smarter than I!

I would like to take this opportunity to give advance notice to both the governments of India and Greece. It seems there could be another human trafficking scandal that could get unleashed, but this time in Greece. In my job as a social commentator and an analyst, I study trends. I have been fascinated by human migration as a subject for some time. I have been following the movement of Punjabis due to recent events in Canada, and I am also ethnically Punjabi. But having seen the carnage in Canada first hand, I get extremely scared. I have investigated stories of Punjabi students committing suicide and Punjabi girls being sexually exploited. I am doing this as a concerned citizen/decent human being and warning the authorities. I have spoken with multiple people before sharing these videos, taken from the same spot, on two separate days. These lines are not normal. You never get such a rush outside the Greek Embassy in New Delhi. It is my humble request for everyone to stop another bout of Indians getting exploited. I would like to take this opportunity to give advance notice to both the governments of India and Greece. It seems there could be another human trafficking scandal that could get unleashed, but this time in Greece. In my job as a social commentator and an analyst, I study trends. I have been fascinated by human migration as a subject for some time. I have been following the movement of Punjabis due to recent events in Canada, and I am also ethnically Punjabi. I am sharing videos from two different days outside the Greek Embassy in Delhi. This line is not normal. There are far too many innocent Punjabis standing outside in this line. I am sharing this information so that well-meaning people in India and Greece can try to prevent what happened in Canada from happening again. Hot Take: The New Camera app on iOS 26 is GREAT i initially hated it when i first saw it on the keynote, but now that i've used it, I'm loving it It’s familiar while being really simple I've always felt that the Camera app on iOS has gotten really complex and convoluted in these last few years, and the new one fixes that, while still being as nuanced as the old app if you configure it the way you want it to behave takes some time to get used to, but this is great, it really does simplify the whole Ul but, this could've been the perfect time for Apple to introduce Manual controls as an Option in the Native app, even after all this redesign, Apple is still stubborn on not adding Manual Controls it's 2025 Apple,if you're gonna let users shoot LOG Video from the Native App, let us have Manual Controls as an option in the Native App, instead of downloading third party apps👏 i wonder how people shoot LOG Videos without Manual Controls💀

GUYS!!! Quit feeling bummed about Niantic destroying our global communities and the constant screw ups with events / features that end in terrible compensation!!!!!! The team has been working on groundbreaking user experience updates 😀🙂😐 Anyway, since we're on the topic can we discuss other ideas that would actually improve UXP significantly compared to reorganizing the research tab that most of us have probably gotten used to by now anyway and that didn't have an explicitly negative impact on playing the game? Lol 1. This is an obvious one. I mean, they did a whole upgrade to the research tab and couldn't be bothered to include the ONE LINE OF CODE that ALREADY EXISTS IN THEIR FILES to make the BATTLE PASS REWARDS COLLAPSIBLE???????? Come on lol 2. An update to navigating within gyms would be nice :) i attached a video of me trying to feed berries and no matter what or how I clicked or swiped I could not get to that gdamn accelgor 🫠 can we have some ARROWS at the sides of the screen so we can actually get to each pokemon efficiently?! 3. Similar to #2, except with the friends list. When scrolling left and right through friends (as in, not in the list view) the scrolling function itself is not smoothe and it's too easy to accidentally press the trade or battle screen and get caught there for a sec. Frustrating little experience, could be easily fixed with arrows on the screen. 4. While we're on the topic of friends, let us see if we've interacted with a friend from their avatar screen and not just in list view from the blue aura around the avi's face :) In the grand scheme of everything Niantic does wrong with the game, these are... MINISCULE issues 🙂 but since they're apparently into focusing on UXP updates, instead of, like, making sure events and features run smoothly and players are properly compensated when they don't, it would be nice to get updates that actually fix some negative / inefficient aspects of navigating through the game 🙂 rather than an aesthetics tweak lol 🙂

it’s my birthday. growing up I didn’t celebrate it because I never got the point. but as I get older I realize it’s a day of reflection. looking back from where I started I’m in the middle of what I prayed for. but in this “busy” culture you’re never satisfied. make $100, how can I make $500? make $500, how can I make $1,000? this constant need for improving is something that I picked up when I first started. in the beginning it was one of the reasons for my success but also the reason I was constantly worried. the longer I’m in this game I realize sometimes it’s important to take a step back. reevaluate, look at the bigger picture. in 2016 my goal was $100/day. the 2016 version of myself would NEVER believe what happened in the last 8 years. if you’re reading this, never give up on your goals, keep working but reward yourself as you hit them.
