The only reason why South Africa outproduces Zimbabwe in maize overall, is because all maize in South Africa is produced by commercial maize farmers with over 300 years of unfair advantage of slave labor, colonialism, apartheid and government subsidies. Meanwhile Zimbabwean maize is produced by rural farmers who were oppressed for 100 years by white Zimbabwean farmers, our commercial farmers have no desire to grow maize because it is not financially lucrative. But Zimbabwe is outproducing South African farmers on wheat is because wheat in Zimbabwe is also produced by commercial farmers just like in South Africa. #ZimbabweVsSouthAfricaAgriculture

🇬🇭 A maize farmer in Atebubu has appealed to President Mahama to support local farmers, citing low patronage of their maize. He claimed that government funds allocated for buffer stock purchases are not being used to buy their maize, while much of the maize consumed in the country is imported. He added that even during the economic challenges under the Akuffo-Addo era, farmers did not face such low patronage, urging the president to step in and help boost local maize consumption.

Cassava farmers in Dambai in the Oti Region have blamed President John Mahama for the sharp drop in the price of cassava, which has fallen to between GHS300 and GHS400 per bag. The farmers say this is a significant decline compared to prices recorded during the administration of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, when a bag of cassava sold for between GHS700 and GHS800.
