Fourier literally decoded the matrix for us.

My worst class in college... Fast Fourier Transforms. I would have flunked, but I talked to the instructor and he agreed to give me a "Gentleman's C" so I could graduate.

Spent years with Fast Fourier Transforms as a software engineer developing preprocessing algorithms for massive volumes of 3D digital marine seismic data. 🚢🖥️

this was my fast fourier graph I remember.

I was always amazed at signals being mapped in 2d and how much data we are missing by not mapping them in 3D with time as the 4th dimension. If this was visualized it might help people think better about particle physics

Great video from a great channel with a 101 level explanation of Fourier transforms:

Ignoring the math, it’s interesting you have an audio frequency corresponding to the y-axis. I’m more curious to hear what each generated waveforms sound like.

Very similar to Fast n Fourier

Amazing what a visualization does for understanding. Wish we had these when I was in class.

If you're a synthesizer geek, all of these should look very familiar 😀

That's Fourier Analysis. The FFT is just a way to calculate the transform numerically more quickly

love this animation 🔥 do you have any details on the process / tool used to make it?

The fact that the universe operate in a determinist repetitive cycles of actions is just impressive. From the illustration, it seems an infinite number of circles can be embedded in a single centric motion (r - length). don't know if this is true, just huristic observation.

Fourier was not onle the one that found the math that is basics for IT and mobile communications, he also discovered the greenhouse effect in 1824.

you just completed my vision about the biological asp-processes of the human body as example, it is one cycle depending on another cycle, and all of them function within general limits i see a cardiogram in Fournier, where the heart has many interdependent componants

@TinfoilTricorn I have no idea what I’m listening to but it’s too cute. Like what you might expect other worldly children to sound like as they welcome you to their planet. 😂

This is the most powerful visualisation of the algorithm I have yet seen. Beautiful.

It’s interesting to learn fourier series & transform via audio signal. I wish we were was taught thru this way as students instead of boring integrals & summation
