She was instructed not to speak. Michael Douglas came up to her and said, "Look at that stupid unicorn. I’m going to throw it in the garbage” and he started yelling. After he said that, she started crying and held the doll tighter. Director Adrian Lyne then yelled, "Cut". Michael Douglas immediately ran to Ellen, held her and said, "I am sorry". In an interview in 2017, Douglas said, ""I felt pretty guilty. But you've got to do what you've got to do."
