A couple of Jews VS. hundreds of Hamas supporters - I stand in solidarity with Michael and Anastasia and Barbara at Concordia, Shira, Moranne, and all my Jewish brothers and sisters and ALL good-hearted people in the world against intolerance and hatred. Here in Montreal. In Toronto. Everywhere in the world. Against lies and propaganda and people being brainwashed and led astray from the goodness of their souls. I do not hate these people. I feel sorry for them. But this is not about them. This is about US. This is about our morality. I do not compare myself to them. I look in the mirror of my people and overall, I like what I see. I am proud of who we are with our achievements, moral clarity and yes, our imperfections. I encourage all good people to learn the facts. To speak up. To show up. And to stand up to bullies. There have always been moments in history when the unthinkable or the unspeakable have occurred. Moments recorded in the pages of history, where we must use our imagination to conjure up images of the pain and suffering those that lived through those moments endured. Never in a million years do we ever imagine from the lofty height of our comfortable existence, WE will become the subject of one of those stories that future generations will look upon in the same way today we look upon 1930’s Germany. I have taken the liberty of adapting the now famous words of Pastor Martin Niemöller First they came for the black people And I did not speak out Because I was not black. Then they came for the Mexicans And I did not speak out Because I was not a Mexican. Then they came for the Muslims And I did not speak out Because I was not a Muslim Then they aided and abetted Israel to murder Palestinian women and children And I did not speak out Because I was not a Palestinian Then they came for the LGBTQ + community And I did not speak out Because I was not a member of that community. Then they came for the poor, the vulnerable and the disabled And I did not speak out Because I was none of these.
