A couple of Jews VS. hundreds of Hamas supporters - I stand in solidarity with Michael and Anastasia and Barbara at Concordia, Shira, Moranne, and all my Jewish brothers and sisters and ALL good-hearted people in the world against intolerance and hatred. Here in Montreal. In Toronto. Everywhere in the world. Against lies and propaganda and people being brainwashed and led astray from the goodness of their souls. I do not hate these people. There have always been moments in history when the unthinkable or the unspeakable have occurred. Moments recorded in the pages of history, where we must use our imagination to conjure up images of the pain and suffering those that lived through those moments endured. I wrote this song after what happened yesterday aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. For me, watching those people come through something that could so easily have ended in tragedy felt like one more miracle in a story filled with them. From the parting of the sea and the walls of Jericho, through thousands of years of exile, our return to our land, the wars Israel survived, Entebbe, Iron Dome, and now this moment in the skies — I believe Adonai has been speaking to us again and again through miracles. Maybe the message is simpler than we make it: do not live in fear. Keep believing. Keep trusting. And above all, stand together. We do not all have to be religious. We do not have to pray in exactly the same way. But we are a people bound by a covenant that began thousands of years ago, and I believe that covenant still speaks to us today. From miracle to miracle, we are being reminded: there is nothing left to fear when we walk together in faith.
