So people that were paying a lot of groceries, they are paying a lot less.” FACT Check: - Gasoline is up since Trump took office (from $3.13 to $3.17) - Grocery prices, on average, are up since he took office. - Inflation is still here, still above where it should be. - Energy prices are down mostly because of recession fears. - All costs are definitely not down. Bank of America’s sitting on $700B in bonds bought at 1% yields in 2020. Those bonds are down ~40%, hiding $100B in losses. Meanwhile, the Treasury needs to refinance $9T and issue $2.5T in new debt this year. Foreign buyers like China are dumping Treasuries for gold. If Trump disrupts this debt recycling, we’re staring at a failed auction or Fed QE that’ll spike inflation expectations. When yields hit 7-10%, Bank of America’s equity won’t survive. A run on the bank? ATMs down? It’s not “if” but “when.” Fractional reserve banking fails-it’s built to. See 1932.

Bessent just said on Squawk Box this week: "Nothing is more transient than a supply shock... core inflation will continue coming down... we may get one or two more hot prints, but then I think we're going to see substantial disinflation." That's the Treasury Secretary laying down the runway before the data turns. The bond market hasn't caught up yet, and most certainly I don't think crypto holders have either.
