Grand jury oversight of school practices is a serious escalation l but the real question is systemic: is 40% chronic absenteeism a failure of enforcement, or a symptom of deeper issues like housing instability, mental health, and disengaged curricula? Punishing parents alone won't fix a structural problem.

Can you blame the parents? What sane parent wants there kids to learn all about LGBTQlmnop when they should be learning things that make them useful in society?

@JudgeJeanine Habitual truancy and chronic absenteeism is rampant everywhere. I was directly involved for 20 years. Too many school districts develop ‘policies’ and state legislators work around laws and shuffle the offenders from grade to grade every single year. It’s horrible!

40% chronic absenteeism is a serious warning sign. Every child deserves access to education, but addressing this properly also means understanding why students are missing school and holding schools and parents accountable where necessary.

According to a Google search, the chronic absenteeism rate in Detroit Public Schools is 60%. People having babies to get welfare is a very bad idea.

Education requires accountability from schools, parents, and students. If chronic absenteeism is being ignored, asking tough questions is necessary to protect children’s futures.
