It's bc Disney, & i think Fiege, didn't ask/meet with the writers for a S2 at all. There was miscommunication. They went out and said the S2 announcement without notifying the writers at all. That's why the writer weren't working on it; they were busy with other stuff!

It makes sense, I doubt they have broader plans for the character. And Destin is handling Shang-Chi 2 and most likely Spider-Man 5.
