Fell down the rabbit hole on a charter school network called Alpha School. The premise? Two hours of traditional school daily, all delivered via AI apps. The rest of the day is spent on self-directed projects around life skills or areas of interest. It seems to be working?

I discovered them on Instagram, where students give you a peek at their daily lives and what they’re working on. This is a middle schooler. Some of the high schoolers are doing really interesting research or work study projects that go super deep into niche interests.

The obvious Q is does it work to disrupt the teaching model so dramatically? In applications to state charter school boards, the company claims that its students consistently score 90th+ percentile on national standardized tests. And they're quickly opening new locations...

I went down this rabbit hole a year or two ago. Something I love to see is the high schoolers who all have their own businesses! Every single one of them was making money, it was crazy honestly

My son has been there since 5th grade and currently in 8th grade. He will not be attending the HS there but it has been an incredible experience overall. They definitely are in "startup mode" and have some challenges but the overall premise of 2x learning + life skills is 🔥🔥

What would be interesting is to see if it’s working because kids are all bright outliers to begin with or not. There could be a self selection bias here.

I would have loved to have had this available when I was that age. Should probably still do the same in my life now.

Awesome! Seems like some of the insane results @_MathAcademy_ is seeing with grade school kids working up through undergrad math 🤯 It turns out, there is no speed limit 🚀

Yeah, one thing we’ve seen at @MentavaInc is that educational software without speed limits lets kids learn incredibly fast People think it’s some kind of miracle but it’s just removing all speed bumps to let kids learn as fast as they want

Texas private school’s use of new ‘AI tutor’ rockets student test scores to top 2% in the country | Nicholas Lanum, Fox News Alpha School co-founder Mackenzie Price says students are learning 'better' and 'faster' A Texas private school is seeing student test scores soar to new heights following the implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI) "tutor." At Alpha School in Austin, Texas, students are placed in the classroom for two hours a day with an AI assistant, using the rest of the day to focus on skills like public speaking, financial literacy, and teamwork. "We use an AI tutor and adaptive apps to provide a completely personalized learning experience for all of our students, and as a result our students are learning faster, they’re learning way better. In fact, our classes are in the top 2% in the country," Alpha School co-founder Mackenzie Price told "Fox & Friends." Elle Kristine, a junior at Alpha School, praised the educational institution and suggested its unique structure provides a substantial benefit over standard American learning frameworks. "I have a lot of friends at traditional school, and every day after school and during school, they’re doing so much homework, they’re spending all this time on schoolwork, they’re so stressed out, and they’re just miserable," Kristine said during an interview with co-host Ainsley Earhardt. The Alpha School junior revealed that she and other classmates finish their academics in three-hour blocks daily and spend the rest of their time working on "passion projects." In her case, Kristine is working on a safe AI dating coach for teenagers. "What 16-year-old has time for that? "So, it’s awesome," Kristine said. Alpha School in Texas currently has a few hundred students and is expanding across the United States. "What we’re finding is that families want this personalized education experience," Price said. It’s transforming the experience that kids have. But even more importantly, the role that teachers play." Read more:
