...and? The fact is a big country and many cities developed around cars doesn't make it less wrong, should have made them developed around people. The stories I read or americans taking half a hour drive to buy stuff and another half to get back sound insane to me.

Completely wrong though. Many American cities were initially walkable but became car-centric after World War II, just like many European cities. The difference is that, over time, many European cities recognized the downsides of car-focused infrastructure and made efforts to restore walkability through pedestrian zones, public transport, and cycling infrastructure. Meanwhile, most American cities continued to prioritize cars due to urban sprawl and zoning laws. Just excuses…
