Congress approved $20 billion for FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund through Dec. 20, and those funds are locked in for disaster relief only. The $640 million for the Shelter and Services Program, which helps with humanitarian aid, is separate and cannot unilaterally be repurposed for disaster recovery by the President or by FEMA. Congress — led by Republicans in the House — approved both budgets, and it takes Congressional action to allocate more funds. It's just another MAGA lie to try and scare voters before the election.
