Marijuana is not Great for the BRAIN: Studies show that marijuana users have significantly reduced blood flow activity in the brain areas responsible for learning and memory. Studies also show people with certain genes have a 700% chance of becoming psychotic if they are an avid user of marijuana. Teenagers who use marijuana have a higher rate of anxiety, depression, suicide and psychosis in their 20’s. Clip Full Show

One of the world’s most experienced brain-imaging psychiatrists dropped a bombshell on Tucker Carlson’s show. Dr. Daniel Amen (80,000+ brain scans in his career) revealed the results of his published study on 1,000 regular cannabis users vs healthy controls: → Every single region of the brain showed significantly lower blood flow and activity on SPECT imaging → The same scans also measure mitochondrial function (the energy factories inside your cells) — and those were dramatically lower too → A brand-new 2024 study from an completely independent research group on another 1,000 young cannabis users found the exact same pattern, especially in the brain areas responsible for learning and memory This isn’t opinion. These are measurable, published findings from two separate teams using advanced brain imaging. Whether you use cannabis or not, the science is worth knowing. Watch the 1:55 clip below — Dr. Amen explains it clearly and calmly.

Dyno Therapeutics co-founder Sam Sinai on how his team cracked the blood-brain barrier well enough to reach 50% of neurons with a single injection: "For brain specifically, the brain has this extra layer of defense called the blood brain barrier. It's really put there to prevent anything to get in." "What we have done is actually in primates we can show that we can get up more than 50% of neurons, through a systemic injection." "You're just injecting in the veins, and then the virus actually makes its way into the brain." "Neurons are a primary target, but it could be in some cases glial cells, depending on the disease. Solving pan brain, meaning all of brain delivery, is a key objective there."

Even light drinking may be shrinking your brain One study study found that consuming as little as one to two units of alcohol per day—equivalent to about half to one standard U.S. drink—was linked to measurable reductions in brain volume This includes losses in white matter, which connects critical brain regions, and gray matter, essential for processing information Heavy drinking worsens the impact, with neuronal loss in areas tied to memory, emotion, and navigation

Reading paper vs screens shows a surprising brain shift Studies suggest that when people read on paper, the brain leans into deeper focus + problem-solving patterns, the kind linked with sustained attention. On screens, activity tends to look more like lighter, wandering attention states. And the twist: paper readers don’t just understand better… they often read 10–30% faster too, with higher comprehension, not worse. Basically, the brain still seems more “locked in” on print than pixels. Writer: Lynn

STANFORD BUILT AN LLM MEMORY THAT WORKS LIKE A BRAIN AND IT MADE STANDARD RAG LOOK ANCIENT no fine-tuning. no bigger model. just a smarter way to remember the insight: the brain doesn't store memories as isolated notes. it indexes them and links them - so one cue pulls back the whole memory so HippoRAG stops treating documents as separate chunks. it builds a knowledge graph, then spreads activation across it (Personalized PageRank) to pull a full answer from a single cue - the brain calls this "pattern completion" the result: > up to 20% better on hard multi-hop questions > 10-30x cheaper and 6-13x faster than iterative retrieval > connects facts split across documents in a single step most RAG still encodes every passage in isolation - so it breaks the moment the answer is scattered more retrieval was never the answer. brain-like memory is bookmark this. the next leap in AI agents is how they remember, not how big they get

Avocados are one of the most brain-healthy foods you can eat. They’re rich in monounsaturated fat, which supports cardiovascular health, and what’s good for your heart is generally good for your brain. They’re also packed with fiber, potassium (more than a banana, gram for gram), folate, and lutein, a carotenoid that accumulates in the brain and has been linked to better cognitive function.

Creatine dose, benefits & safety from Dr. Rhonda Patrick: - Standard muscle dose is 5 g/day of creatine monohydrate - the most well-researched form - but muscles are "very greedy" and consume most of it before it reaches the brain. - Getting creatine into the brain requires higher doses: one German study found that at 10 g/day, MRI scans showed creatine levels rising in key brain regions above what the brain produces on its own. - Creatine shines under brain stress - sleep deprivation, intense cognitive work, travel fatigue. One study gave sleep-deprived subjects 0.35 g per kg bodyweight (roughly 20-25 g) and they performed not just at baseline but above it. - The phosphocreatine system has a frontal bias - the brain areas most associated with strategic planning and working memory rely on it most heavily. "It's one of the most well-studied supplements out there. If it was unsafe, we really would know." Dr. Rhonda Patrick on Andrew D. Huberman, Ph.D.

Why do we actually laugh? Dr. Arthur Brooks explains that laughter isn’t just an emotional reaction, it’s a biological reflex triggered by a brain hack. When you hear a punchline, your brain experiences a mini "system error." Here is the quick breakdown: The Set-Up: Your brain predicts how a sentence will end based on logic. The Twist: The punchline completely defies that logic. The Flick: This surprise "flicks" a part of your emotional brain (the parahippocampal gyrus). The Release: Your brain resolves the confusion with a burst of dopamine and a physical chuckle.

I came across this fascinating and fun experiment on how to trick a brain. Now, think a step further. This is only ONE way to trick your brain. Politicians use the others. Observe yourself.

$BRAIN just got a real brain. v0.4.0 runs the full MaleCNS v1.0 connectome: 166,700 neurons and 124M synapses firing in one spiking simulation. Camera motion now reaches identified fly visual neurons, travels through the wiring, and triggers real escape and steering circuits that produce motor commands. The loop already runs up to 6.5x real time on an RTX 3050. Shuffle the connectome and the behaviour vanishes. The wiring is doing the work. Next up: transaction → sensory neurons → 166,700-neuron brain → movement

Meta's new AI can predict your brain better than a brain scan. TRIBE v2 is a foundation model trained on 1,000+ hours of brain imaging data from 720 people. You feed it a video, sound clip, or text, and it predicts: > Which brain regions light up > How strongly > And in what order When tested on people it had never seen, the model's predictions were actually more accurate than most real brain scans (which get distorted by heartbeats, breathing, and movement). Researchers then replicated decades of classic neuroscience experiments entirely inside the software. No scanner, no human subjects. The model correctly identified the brain's face recognition center, language network, and emotional processing regions on its own. But look at what else Meta has been building: > Ray-Ban smart glasses that see and hear what you do > A wristband that reads nerve signals > And now a model that predicts how your brain responds to any piece of content There's no evidence these are all connected... but Meta now has a complete picture of attention, from the stimulus to the neural response.
