We use talc powder most loads. Throw it around the cone and any spots moisture can get in. Then cup fulls up the auger. Our granulockZ this year seemed dusty and on the small side however think it looks OK when we sampled.🤷‍♂️

Not a criticism, just curious as to how many farms store fert in a silo?

Hey Mark, I’m not exactly sure really but I do think it varies on locality. Around my area I’d guess 75% of farmers store fertiliser in silos but that possibly only represents 50% of fertiliser used in our area? Some of the bigger growers have fert sheds.

So if fert isn’t up to standard, what are you going to do? Send it back?

What did they have to say about storing it in a silo?

The Koch representative was very reasonable. He understood why so many use silos but did state that it went against there company policy. I knew I didn’t really have a leg to stand on but pushed harder on the fact we could only get 3ha of sowing before we had blocked up rollers.

Hi, we farm in Riverton SA and we have been seeing a few posts about stuck fertiliser on here in silos. We recently built a fertiliser shed and my farmer said it’s the best thing he has done.
