If Republican lawmakers in Kentucky, West Virginia and Iowa get their way, public schools would be required to show students videos like “Baby Olivia” (seen below). This video, created by the pro-life group Live Action (founded by Lila Rose) depicts an embryo and fetus as it goes through the stages of development before becoming a baby. A lot of people on the left are upset over this. I want to provide my opinion. The law in Kentucky explicitly states that Children would be shown the following: “A high-definition ultrasound video, at least three (3) minutes in duration, showing the development of the brain, heart, sex organs, and other vital organs in early fetal development; and a high-quality, computer-generated rendering or animation showing the process of fertilization and every stage of human development inside the uterus, noting significant markers in cell growth and organ development for every week of pregnancy until birth.” I honestly have no problem with this law, as children and teens should know about the development of an embryo, fetus, and baby. However, I do think that these videos should be 100% factual, and also let children know the size and weight of the embryo/fetus along the way. Additionally they should teach about when a fetus develops the ability to be conscious of their life, and the ability to feel pain. Let’s give children all of the factual information. The more they know, the better decisions they can make. What are your thoughts?
