“That’s not nice. That’s not good…” Let’s talk about the role of language in shaping our thinking. We often think of language development in terms of a child’s ability to communicate with others. But it also plays a transformative role in cognition, helping us to communicate with ourselves and regulate our emotions. In time, language shapes not only what we know and say, but how we think and feel. During the years of early childhood, the acquisition of language revolutionizes young children’s approach to the world. They go from being unable to express their needs and feelings (a frustration that leads to things like crying to biting), to using language to process, communicate and regulate their behavior/emotions. And what a lovely example we have here. Marleigh’s dog Zoey has ripped apart (“eaten”) her stuffed Mickey Mouse toy. Watch how she (with some adult support) uses language to process her frustration and confront the dog. The developing 🧠 at work. BJP in Armoor, Nizamabad, Telangana took out a protest rally today morning! They held a total Bandh in Armoor today. Not against the theft of funds and jewellery from Ayodhya Ram Mandir but for : teaching Urdu at a few schools in Telangana! How did they get permission to take out a rally on the main streets, in a state where the police love policing even our thoughts? Fact: Urdu is the second official language of Telangana as per the Official Languages Act. Not just Telangana, Urdu is the second official language in Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal. Additionally, Urdu is the official language of Jammu & Kashmir. And a beautiful language too. Urdu is the language of poetry ❤️ Also Fact: Many private schools in Telangana today teach Spanish, French, German, even Mandarin (Chinese). But, the desperation of BJP coupled by inaction of Telangana Congress Government, is leading to Urdu becoming a communal issue. High time this gets corrected.

A young lady has expressed concern over the future of the Ewe language, saying she fears it may no longer be spoken by the younger generation in the next 50 years. According to her, many young Ewes are unwilling to speak their native language and are not proud of their cultural identity. 🐹 To think of it, we were fans of artists who speak different languages from us but we didn’t think differently of them because they spoke a different language. 🐹 I was a fan of them and still am and I don’t think a language is a barrier. 🐹 I’ve always cared more about the emotions in their music and who they are as a person so I don’t think the language barrier is an issue. 🐹 When our fans show us love, I think they feel the same way.

I don’t understand what’s happening with some “Lashkar-E-Oolatas” groups these days. The truck driver is from another state and doesn’t even reside in Karnataka, yet some ppl r forcing him to speak Kannada just for publicity. If he had insulted the language or our state, questioning him would make sense but he was simply here to deliver goods. Such actions by a few are only damaging the dignity and true value of Kannada. When we speak politely and respectfully others naturally feel comfortable learning and speaking our language. But incidents like these will only create more problems, not solutions. I currently live in Pune, and many of my colleagues are from Karnataka. We speak Kannada among ourselves, and sometimes others even pick up a few Kannada words. We also communicate in Hindi and the local language, and there’s absolutely no conflict over language. But even here, a few so-called activists keep provoking innocent people unnecessarily. Many of my local colleagues often wonder why some Ji#hadi people don’t communicate in Kannada. Even some colleagues from regions like Bidar aren’t fluent in Kannada, which shows how diverse language use can be.
