A historic day for Colorado and for the first time ever — we released 5 wolves, 3 males and 2 females, in Grand County today. Captured in Oregon, the wolves were evaluated by our veterinarians & biologists, fitted with GPS collars & transported to Colorado for their release.

“If the refs are going to play a part in this game (Denver/Wolves) then Denver’s going to win. If they let them play physical then I got Minnesota” Game 3 tonight gon be electric. For me this one gon depend on how it’s officiated. If they let the Wolves continue to play physical then i got them. If they don’t and become strict with that whistle then I see Denver pulling this one out. Don’t let my Young Wolves go up 3-0 or this Shyt over lord 🙌🏾💯

Let’s make majestic frolicking a thing ❄️🐺 When you see these magnificent and powerful creatures moving through the snow, remember the vital role predators play in our world. The dire wolf, sometimes called the “great wolf,” holds deep cultural and ecological significance across North America, especially in Indigenous traditions. In conversations with Indigenous groups, ecologists, and landowners, one request stood out: work on a carnivore alongside herbivores. Wolves, as keystone species, are vital for healthy ecosystems yet often misunderstood. This project goes beyond de-extinction and conservation—it’s about reframing the conversation on wolves and their role in biodiversity.

The Craziest Comeback In The Premier League 🥹 Wolverhampton 3️⃣ -2️⃣ Manchester City ⚽️ What a performance from wolves. Five Goals. Huge drama And a massive Victory against the Champions. 😱 With this stunning turnaround, Wolves completed a historic Premier League double over Manchester City for the 2019/20 season, having already beaten them 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium earlier that October. The result left Manchester City 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool, effectively ending their realistic hopes of retaining the title that season.

A Japanese company can’t keep up with demand for robo-wolves — farmers are buying unusual robots to protect against bears. These mechanical “predators” are equipped with motion sensors, solar panels, and speakers that play frightening sounds to scare animals away. In the future, developers plan to add wheels so the robo-wolves can patrol streets and fields on their own. It looks seriously creepy — imagine what it will be like for someone who stumbles across one of these at night.

Cool footage of the wildlife observed on a small trail over a 6 month period from last fall to this spring. In particular, we captured some great footage of the Listening Point Pack and the Mithrandir Pack on this camera. The Listening Point Pack was 5 pack members (3 adults and two pups) and these are the wolves in most of the footage in this video. You can see two of the adults (the breeding male and a subordinate adult male) several times as well as the two pups. The December 2nd footage gives a great clear view of all 4 of these wolves. In two instances, it appears the Listening Point Pack killed deer near this camera as wolves were carrying deer legs past the camera on Jan 10 and Mar 3. The Mithrandir Pack was just a breeding pair last winter. You can see these wolves on November 11 and 20, and April 15. This area is on the periphery of their territory so not surprising we did not have many observations of them in this spot. And huge thanks to the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund for their continued support of our project. Their support allows us to capture and share footage like this with everyone on a regular basis!

🚨AMAZING SCENERY FROM POLAND: BISON HERD UNITES TO FIGHT OFF WOLF PACK IN BIAŁOWIEŻA FOREST! 🔥🇵🇱 In the ancient Białowieża Forest — one of Europe’s last primeval forests located in eastern Poland (on the border with Belarus) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — a dramatic scene unfolded. A pack of 7 wolves attacked a herd of European bison, targeting a newborn calf. Instead of fleeing or abandoning the young, the entire bison herd formed a united front, stood their ground, and successfully drove the wolves away. Poland is home to one of the world’s most important populations of free-roaming European bison (żubr), successfully reintroduced after they were once nearly extinct. Białowieża remains a true wilderness where these majestic animals and wolves still live as they did for centuries.

🚨🎙️Southgate on Liverpool last minute penalty vs Newcastle: 🗣️“I’m sorry, but Newcastle were robbed tonight. That is not a penalty I would expect to decide a Premier League match in the 99th minute. Liverpool were hanging on. Newcastle had done enough to win the game, and then one soft decision completely changed everything. If that’s the standard now, Liverpool will be getting penalties every time they’re desperate for a goal. Let’s be honest Liverpool got away with one tonight. Newcastle deserved all three points.”

The first footage of wolves eating raspberries to our knowledge! We captured this footage last summer when the Bug Creek Pack pups spent a good while foraging for berries in this patch. Of course, we have known for a while wolves eat raspberries as we have sifted through many scats full of raspberry seeds. However, we’ve never observed the behavior before. Just a few months ago, before we were aware we captured this footage, we actually published a scientific paper on the “berry-eating” behavior of wolves. The big takeaway from our study (link to study below!): based on our data, wolves foraging on berries in our area is an extremely widespread behavior and one that almost every wolf we have studied engages in when berries are abundant. We have captured trail camera footage of wolves of all ages, sexes, and social statuses (i.e., breeding or subordinate wolf) from several packs foraging on berries. All of this indicates “berry-eating” by wolves is likely pervasive across large portions of southern boreal ecosystems in places like Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec. However, given the lack of summer research on the foraging ecology of wolves in these areas, we think this behavior has just gone unnoticed. Although, there is evidence based on scats collected in these areas that wolves are foraging on berries. Now, it is important to understand why wolves eat berries and to not misconstrue this finding with the notion that wolves eat berries because they prefer berries over animal prey. Wolves do not have digestive systems that are meant to digest plant matter and berries effectively. Thus, berries are almost certainly "starvation food" for wolves; as in, the wolves are starving and berries are the best option given the circumstances to stave off hunger and slow weight loss. All this to say, wolves are not eating berries instead of other animals because they prefer berries over meat. We have no doubt that if a wolf had an option between a meal of berries or of deer/ beaver that it would choose the latter every single time. Catching deer and beavers, wolves primary summer prey, is extremely challenging for wolves in late summer, and likely requires extensive energy expenditure. Thus, instead of spending substantial energy hunting prey they likely cannot catch, wolves turn to berries, which are abundant, taste good, and likely make them feel full. In other words, all evidence suggests wolves are just eating berries to slow starvation and weight loss. Read our recent study on the “berry-eating” behavior of wolves for free here:
